▪️Ano ang diabetes

Ang diabetes ay isang metabolic disorder na naglalarawan ng mataas na blood sugar (hyperglycemia) na mula sa mga defects sa insuln production, insulin action, o parehas. Ang insulin ay isang hormone na nanggagaling sa pancreas at ito ay importante sa pag control ng blood glucose levels at pag gamit ng cells sa glucose ng normal.

▪️Ang paglaganap ng Diabetes

Ayon sa World Health Organization (WHO), ang bilang ng taong may diabetes ay 422 milyon noong 2014 habang 108 milyon lang noong 1980. Ang paglaganap ng diabetes ay tumataas sa low and middle-income na mga bansa kaysa sa mga high-income na bansa.

▪️Pagkakaroon ng Diabetes at mga Klase nito

Mayroong tatlong klase ng diabetes: type 1 diabetes (kulang na insulin production), type 2 diabetes (insulin resistance), at gestational diabetes (tuwing pagbubuntis)

Ang karaniwang sintomas ng diabetes ay frequent urination, hunger and fatigue, dry mouth, itchy skin, blurred vision, feeling very thirsty, weight loss, numbness in the hands or feet, and slow healing bruises. Ang ibang type 2 diabetic ay hindi halata ang sintomas. Kung ikaw ay mayroon na isa sa mga sintomas, bumisita sa inyong doktor agad para malaman ang inyong glucose level sa pamamagitan ng fasting blood sugar test, two-hour postprandial blood sugar test, at glycated hemoglobin test.

▪️Diabetes Risk factors

Ang mga taong madalas may ganito ay mas malaki ang tyansa magkaroon ng type 2 diabetes:

Obesity
Ang may impaired glucose tolerance o prediabetes, lalo na kapag hindi nag ehersisyo o hindi sumusunod sa low carbohydrate diet
Ethnic groups katulad ng mga instik o indians
Nagkaroon ng gestational diabetes
Mayroong sedentary lifestyle
Positive family history
Babaeng may polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS)

▪️Ano ang mga komplikasyon ng Diabetes?

Ang uncontrolled diabetes ay delikado sa iyong kalusugan. Ang mataas na glucose level ay nakakasira ng maliliit na arteries at nakaka apekto sa halos lahat ng organ sa ating katawan. Ang listahan ng mga potensyal na komplikasyon ay mahaba at karaniwang nakikita sa mga diabetic na may hindi magandang sugar control at hindi sumusunod sa dietary at lifestyle recommendations mula sa doctor.

Ang karaniwang komplikasyon ng diabetes ay heart disease, stroke, neuropathy, kidney failure, blurred vision at decreased immunity.
