✝️𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗧
✠ No Resurrection Without Repentance ✠

Lent prepares us for Easter.
But there is a truth many avoid:
There is no Resurrection without repentance.
Before the joy of Easter morning,
there must be Good Friday sorrow.
And before Good Friday,
there must be confession.

𝗜. 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗚𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗢 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗦

After His Resurrection, Our Lord appeared to the Apostles and said:

“Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.”
— John 20:23

This was not symbolic.
This was authority.

The Sacrament of Penance is not a medieval invention.
It is instituted by Christ Himself.

𝗜𝗜. 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗬

Sin does three things:

1️⃣ It offends God
2️⃣ It wounds the soul
3️⃣ It damages the Body of Christ

Private regret is not enough.
Christ established a visible means of reconciliation.
The Council of Trent teaches that sacramental confession is necessary for those who fall into mortal sin after Baptism.

Why?

Because serious sin kills grace in the soul.
Dead souls cannot celebrate Resurrection.

𝗜𝗜𝗜. 𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗡

The Prodigal Son “came to himself” (Luke 15:17).
That is examination of conscience.
He arose and returned to his father.
That is confession.

He confessed:

“Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee.”

That is repentance.
And only then did restoration come.
No return — no restoration.

𝗜𝗩. 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗔 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗘𝗫𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘?

Lent is not the time for vague confession.
It is the time for honesty.

Ask yourself:

✠ Have I neglected prayer?
✠ Have I received Communion unworthily?
✠ Have I entertained impurity in thought or action?
✠ Have I harmed my spouse or children?
✠ Have I justified serious sin?
✠ Have I refused forgiveness?
✠ Have I lived lukewarm?

Examination must be concrete.

Sin grows in vagueness.
Grace grows in clarity.

𝗩. 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗘

Many avoid confession not because they doubt it.
But because it humbles them.

To kneel and say,
“I have sinned,”
crushes pride.

And pride is the root of all rebellion.
Humility opens Heaven.

𝗩𝗜. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗦 𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗦 𝗜𝗧

Look at the Crucifix.
If sin required the Blood of Christ —
how can we treat it lightly?

Confession unites our repentance to His Sacrifice.

It applies Calvary to the soul.

Without repentance, Easter becomes sentimental.
With repentance, Easter becomes transformation.

𝗩𝗜𝗜. 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗬 𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗔𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡

Because:

They fear embarrassment
They minimize sin
They assume tomorrow is guaranteed

But Scripture warns:

“Behold, now is the acceptable time.”
— 2 Corinthians 6:2

Death comes unexpectedly.
Grace must not be postponed.

𝗩𝗜𝗜𝗜. 𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗔 𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗬

Confession during Lent is not punishment.
It is preparation.

The saints approached Easter purified.
The early Church reconciled public sinners before Holy Week.

Why?

Because no one should approach the Resurrection still clinging to mortal sin.

𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗘𝗫𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

You cannot rise with Christ
if you refuse to die to sin.
You cannot celebrate Resurrection
while spiritually dead.

This Lent:

Examine deeply.
Confess sincerely.
Amend firmly.

Heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents.
