Sofa beds are expensive! 💰 We needed something that would serve dual functions for our home office/guest room so I decided to build a daybed that folds out into a queen size platform bed. This cost less than $100 and is made completely of 2x4’s (and one 1x8 for the backrest). I custom designed this bed specifically for this space and this folding mattress pad and futon that we already owned. It works perfectly! The futon fits on top when it’s in couch mode and the foldable mattress pad slides easily underneath. This build was easier than I thought it would be (that rarely happens) and totally doable for DIYers. Minimal tools and skills required!
