You reminded me of my worth as a child of God,
as a daughter,
as a girl,
as a woman just trying to do her best
You saw me for me
And gently helped me to see that too
In difficulties,
You tried to really ask and listen
Honestly, I couldn’t really trust you if I looked really okay or not
Because you’d always look at me with a beaming smile and say I looked pretty no matter how I looked: without fail
I was your most beautiful daughter
Whether my face was bare or
covered in rashes on not so good days or somewhere-in-between
You always saw me as your favourite girl you loved
And no matter how crappy or sh*tty I felt and no matter how much I complained that you just said that cause you were biased & my dad
It always helped make my heart softer and gave it a teeny boost knowing that at least I had a great man who loved me so much and was proud of it
I never got to show these pictures to you that I took with Sol
You would laugh to know how self-conscious and awkward I was going through it
You know me, I would always be shy and hide from or cover the camera..unless I could see the angle facing me and would know exactly how that picture would turn out
But it was an exercise of vulnerability for me and I was determined to go through it since it would only be fair since I asked my friends to do the same for the Real Beauty Stories

I hope I’ll have the courage to tell the full story about my struggles for health and ongoing healing one day

I am slowly finding my way,
To not just survive but to try to thrive and hope!
I’ll keep trying not just for my own sake but to also help others

POST-WEDDING REVIEW OF SUPPLIERS # 1: HMUA, Alexandra Esther Escobal

Alex is my main make-up artist in our wedding last July 2019, and I could not have made a better choice. She is very detailed, organized and "maalaga" to her clients. She carefully took note of my hair and make-up preferences, but also helped me explore more glam looks so that I can be radiant on my wedding day.

She made sure that my skin is well-prepped by giving me skin care tips suited for my oily and sometimes acne-prone skin, and also gave me a post-wedding skincare kit!

She does not impose her preferences but always considers my and my then-fiancé's comments to make sure that he can still recognize me beneath the veil. She also asked me about my bouquet of flowers and wedding gown, making sure that the whole outfit gels together and renders me to be the focus on my wedding day.

From the church until the reception, she is hands-on and would prompt me to retouch if needed [and any bride would know that you absolutely have NO TIME to think about your looks when people greet you].

She also gathered a hair and make-up team which is very professional and competent: Ms. Joyce worked hard to achieve our desired hairstyle, while Alex and Ms. Maureen ensured that our entourage will be in their best looks too.

Over-all, Alex always made sure that my beauty choices shine, given that I'm not very assertive about my style and find it hard to say no to strangers (hehe). Given that my husband and I can only have an on-site coordinator, we did all wedding preparations with the help of our friends and family. Alex was one of our suppliers who taught me to take note of every little detail that I need so that I have little to worry about come the big day.

Even if I suffered a contact lens gaffe and food poisoning within the week of our wedding, she was always there to help me troubleshoot.

I could go on and on about how I felt super special two months before wedding day. If I were to summarize it, the most important detail of care is that Alex enabled me to be physically and emotionally prepared for the morning of my wedding. That to me is real value-added service that only a few HMUAs can truly give. 🙂

PS: She also did male grooming for Mon, Tito Jun and Ninong Condeng. Among my entourage, no one had any break-outs after the HMUA session. She only uses the best skin care products for any skin type! 🙂 She also does hair and make-up for special events, aside from weddings. In this case, inspiration was taken from the vibrant blue color of the model Sam Cowper’s dress💙

Bright gemstones were carefully framed around the eyes 💎 while double eyeliner and blue lashes were finishing touches to the blue theme.

I kept the rest of the face and lips very fresh and clean so the whole look is not overwhelming, but still intriguing...drawing you in to appreciate the details and take a closer look
