ALPHA HYDROXY ACID (AHA) are group of acids that naturally occur in foods (fruits, sugar cane, milk , etc).
It is an exfoliant, reduce wrinkles, remove dark spots/melasma and helps with acne.
Ideally, it should be use every other day to prevent irritation (can be use daily if tolerated).
Use sunscreen daily.

MELASMA is an acquired hyperpigmentation of sun-exposed areas like the cheeks, lips, forehead and chin.
It is caused by: genetics, hormones (use of contraceptive pill is also a big factor), sun exposure and UV radiation.
Mainstay of treatment are hydroxyquinone, tretinoin and azelaic acid.
Melasma is difficult to treat. PATIENCE IS THE KEY.
Use SUNSCREEN (with highSPF 50 +) with protection against UV-A and UV-B.
