“2020 might not have been our ideal year, but I'm glad that a lot of us made the most out of it. Personally, my biggest resolution for 2020 was to look and feel better -- to be proud of my body whether I gained or lost weight. Now here I am, better than how I was 365 days ago. ⭐💯

This past year was really about self love and self care by treating my body as strong and dynamic. Aside from LOSING 15 POUNDS this year, I got to learn how to do push ups, headstands, pistol squats, pull ups, chin ups, and so much more!! 🥺❤ More importantly, I took a step further and trained over 50 clients and leaders this year, making our world healthier and happier little by little! 🥰💯

What changes did I make in the past year?
1️⃣💪🏼 Make exercising part of my routine to strengthen my body (and not punish it)!
2️⃣🏋🏻‍♀️ Challenge my body through progressive overload and achieving new skills!
3️⃣🥗 Explore healthier and more nutritious meals by cooking them myself!
4️⃣✌🏼 Forgive and make peace with my body when I eat too much, or workout a too little!
5️⃣❤ Be surrounded by a supportive and loving community!

Give your body a chance this 2021! If January 1 wasn't your Day 1, you have 364 days left to start! ‼️💯 It doesn't matter when you start, as long as YOU DO! ❤💯

“Whether it’s the start of the year or not, we all have ambitions that are deeply personal to us. Things that we would like to create from scratch, things we would like to build from where we started or simply, things that we would like to try.

While the pandemic has gotten into us big time and it has been a challenge for most of us to move the needle whether at the starting line or from where it was before to where we are heading. We were on a constant lookout for opportunities to have or reignite that internal driving force that will motivate us to act.

This has led me to Extra Rise MNL and The Morning Club and being part of these groups have reminded me of two things: 1) The old saying “No Man is an Island and 2) Sense of Belongingness.

No Man is an Island
While at the end of the day we are responsible of our actions and their results, being part of a community makes it easier to do let’s say 30 burpees (Aroo!) alone versus in a group – knowing that there are also other people going through the same journey. A good reminder that having a group, community in this case is fundamental to how we humans relate which is an even stronger motivator.

Sense of Belongingness
Which is the third level in the hierarchy of needs. It is not just about working out or having good nutrition – it is also to socialize and collaborate. Being part of a community nurtures that sense of belonging and happiness people feel when they do things together.

Working out and living healthy as a community in Extra Rise MNL and The Morning Club create that strong bond between all of us in it who inspire, support and hold each other accountable both online and offline. Having that space that makes you feel comfortable and judgment-free has been something that the community have to maintaining positive motivation.

Let’s continue to commit to capitalize on these strengths to motivate more people and develop productive and successful habits!”

Calorie counting is a tool that can be very beneficial especially when it comes to getting started with your fitness journey. We recommend learning how to do so & apply it until you get a good grasp of portion sizes and food choices. 👍🏽

And when you have a better understanding of calories, you can start learning more about how to eat intuitively. (Watch out for our next post on Intuitive Eating!)

I’ve always been very active and love going to the gym, however I neglected my nutrition, which caused me to always feel tired and gain more weight!

With the help of my coach, I started on my program and absolutely loved it. I loved how simple it is, I loved how delicious my food tastes and I loved the way I started to feel. I had so much more energy to get through my day and no longer craved sweets. Over time, by being consistent, I’ve managed to reshape my body, something I wasn’t able to do previously even though I worked out almost every day.
