An important warning for all of you. There’s a new scam that’s been going around.

Imagine receiving a message from your boss asking you to urgently send money. You see the name, the photo, and everything looks legitimate. Would you send it?

Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened recently in our clinic. Last May 30, a group of scammers created an account using my name and photo in viber, take note, viber po ang kadalasang ginagamit nila. The scammer contacted one of our clinic staff from the Aesthetics Clinic. The messages appeared convincing because the account looked like it belonged to me. The scammer then instructed our staff to deposit money into a PayMaya account, making it seem like an urgent and legitimate request. To make matters worse, another person posing as a doctor also messaged our staff, claiming that I owed her money and that payment needed to be sent immediately. Because the requests appeared to come from trusted individuals, specifically, money was unfortunately transferred. Inabot ng P29,500 pesos po ang naitransfer in three different transactions. This scam has been recurrently happening at kadalasan mga derm at aesthetics clinic ang tinatarget nila.

This incident serves as an important reminder that scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated. They can copy profile photos, use real names, and create stories that sound believable. Before sending money, always verify requests through a direct phone call, video call, or a known official communication channel. For instance, ako, I never contact my staff thru viber and I do not ask staff to transfer personal funds through text messages or social media chats without calling them for proper verification.

To make things worse, two days after mascam kami, I received a message request from a certain MJ Villa saying that their clinic was scammed using my name and photo using Viber, saying that their boss owes me money. This is clearly a case of identity theft. As I posted in my accounts, I will never ask for money from anyone. Just today, one of my patients and a colleague mentioned my name in another Scam Alert post. Another viber number was created with my photo in it but now the name is Marjorie Munoz. This is really alarming at nakakagalit na talaga. Mga taong nanloloko ng kapwa para sa easy money!

Nakikiusap po ako sa sinomang makakapanood nito, pakishare na lang po to increase awareness at baka sa susunod kayo na ang mascam nila or worse, pangalan nyo po at picture ang gamitin to create a fake account. Again, kung may humihingi ng pera, lalo na kung urgent, mag-text, tumawag, o mag-video call muna para makasigurado. Mas mabuting maglaan ng ilang minuto para mag-confirm kaysa mawalan ng pinaghirapang pera.
