Before his flight to Manila, Bobet helped his mom make and sell personalized keychains.

On the evening of June 2, 2026, two days before his scheduled flight, Rene “Bobet” Baterbonia joined his mother, Rovelyn Baterbonia, in a Facebook Live session as they made personalized keychains with his photo, jersey number, and signature.

It was his simple way of helping his mother earn extra income while he was still studying and pursuing his basketball dreams. In the video, he can be seen carefully signing each keychain and writing his jersey number by hand. Even though he looked tired and his hands were getting sore, he continued until they finished everything together.

According to his mother, the keychains were sold for ₱50 each. She also planned to sell jerseys with Bobet’s autograph. However, that plan was no longer possible after the incident.

Today, those handmade keychains remain as a reminder of Bobet’s humility, hard work, and love for his family.
