In a viral video reportedly filmed in China, a woman is seen using a carrying strap to carefully lift her husband onto her back before slowly walking through the narrow aisle of a train. Once she reaches their compartment, she gently helps him settle into their berth.

According to the caption shared with the video, the couple was traveling so he could receive medical treatment at a hospital.

There were no medical staff by their side and no specialized equipment to assist them—only a wife determined to get her husband safely to the care he needed.

The touching moment has resonated with millions of people online, serving as a reminder that love isn't always expressed through dramatic gestures.

Sometimes, love simply means carrying the person you care about when they can no longer walk beside you.

In April 2014, 77-year-old Winifred Peel from Bromborough, Wirral, walked to her local NatWest ATM to withdraw some cash. That same day, three young men had been driving around the area looking for what they believed would be easy targets.

Peel, standing alone at the cash machine, seemed like the perfect victim. At least, that's what they assumed.

Two of the men approached from behind while a third acted as a lookout. One shoved her aside as the other reached over and pressed the button to withdraw £200 from her account. In that instant, Peel realized she was being robbed.

She reacted immediately.

Grabbing one of the attackers by the collar, she slammed his head into the ATM. Then she did it again. And then a third time. The group quickly fled the scene.

What they hadn't counted on was the ATM's CCTV camera, which clearly recorded the confrontation and captured their faces. The injuries one of the suspects suffered during the struggle also helped police identify him. When officers located the group not long afterward, one of the men was still visibly injured.

All three were arrested, charged, and later convicted. Felix Stoica, 19, received a two-year sentence in a young offenders' institution, while Florin Geblescu was sentenced to 18 months and Piper Dumitru to eight months. During sentencing, the judge said they had deliberately targeted someone they believed was vulnerable and had cast a shadow over what should have been the peaceful later years of her life.

Peel, who had grown up with three brothers and had always enjoyed sports, later admitted the ordeal affected her confidence. Even so, she said she never regretted defending herself.

Nicolas Puech, an 83-year-old French billionaire and fifth-generation heir to the Hermès family fortune, was once believed to own roughly 5% of the luxury fashion company, a stake that helped make him one of France's wealthiest individuals. Unmarried and without children, his fortune was estimated at around $15 billion.

In 2023, Puech made headlines after announcing that he wanted to leave half of his wealth to his longtime gardener.

Back in 2011, Puech had signed a legally binding agreement leaving his entire estate to the Isocrates Foundation, a charity he created to combat misinformation. After he attempted to change his plans, the foundation challenged the decision in court, arguing that revoking the agreement had no legal basis.

Then the story took another unexpected turn.

In 2024, Puech claimed that his entire fortune had effectively disappeared. He alleged that his longtime wealth manager, Eric Freymond, had quietly sold off his Hermès shares over a period of two decades without his knowledge. However, a Swiss court dismissed the fraud claim, ruling that Puech had voluntarily granted Freymond broad authority over the management of his assets.

The situation became even more complicated when Puech signed an agreement to sell the disputed Hermès shares to the Emir of Qatar for approximately $15 billion. Weeks later, he withdrew from the deal, saying he could no longer access the shares. Qatar subsequently filed a lawsuit seeking $1.3 billion in damages.

Ironically, these were the same shares Puech had previously claimed were no longer under his control.

On July 23, 2025, Eric Freymond died after being struck by a train near his home in Switzerland.

Since then, Forbes has removed Puech from its list of billionaires, with reports estimating his remaining net worth at roughly $1 million.

If that assessment is accurate, the Isocrates Foundation has little left to inherit, and the gardener Puech once hoped to adopt as his heir is no longer expected to receive the fortune that sparked worldwide attention.

A Dallas biotechnology company, Colossal Biosciences, made headlines after announcing a major milestone in its de-extinction research: the birth of three animals with engineered traits intended to resemble the extinct dire wolf.

Using DNA recovered from a 13,000-year-old tooth and a 72,000-year-old skull, the company edited the genome of gray wolves to produce three live pups. The animals are currently being cared for at a secure 2,000-acre facility monitored around the clock by security personnel and drones.

But that's only part of the company's long-term vision.

One of Colossal's next major goals is the South Island giant moa, a flightless bird that once stood around 12 feet tall, weighed roughly 500 pounds, and roamed New Zealand before humans hunted it to extinction about 600 years ago. The moa's disappearance also led to the extinction of the Haast's eagle, a giant predator that depended heavily on the bird as its primary prey.

Among the project's supporters is Peter Jackson, the director of The Lord of the Rings, who invested $15 million in the effort. Jackson, who owns one of the world's largest private collections of moa bones, has said the project makes him feel "like an excited kid again."

One major obstacle quickly became clear.

A moa egg would be about the size of a football, far too large for any living bird to incubate naturally. Researchers briefly considered genetically enlarging emus to serve as surrogate parents, but ultimately abandoned the idea. As the project's lead scientist jokingly put it:

"Emus are aholes."**

Instead, Colossal developed a completely artificial incubation system.

This week, the company announced that 26 healthy chicks successfully hatched from fully artificial eggs—3D-printed titanium structures lined with a silicone membrane designed to mimic a natural eggshell. A transparent lid even allows scientists to observe embryo development in real time.

The successful chicken hatchings serve as proof that the technology works. The next challenge is adapting the system to handle eggs the size of a football.

And the dodo remains on Colossal's growing list of de-extinction ambitions.

These unusual rules were carefully recorded by Hans Talhoffer, one of Germany's most famous fencing masters, in his 1467 Fechtbuch, or Fight Book. The manuscript contains detailed illustrations and explanations covering the positions, techniques, and regulations of these marital duels.

Far from being written as a strange curiosity, the manual served as a practical legal reference for a form of trial that was, at the time, recognized by the courts.
