This year marks a major milestone for us at BARKLAV — our 25th anniversary in the shipping crew management industry.
What began as a small operation driven by a clear vision and deep maritime values has grown into a trusted partner for clients around the world. For a quarter of a century, we’ve proudly served the global shipping community, ensuring the safe, professional, and efficient management of crews across countless voyages.
Last week, we gathered in, the company’s clients, partners, employees, company’s Board of Directors and honored by the presence of H.E. Mrs Hilde Svartdal Lunde the Norwegian Ambassador in Romania for a very special event — our Silver Seas Celebration: Navigating 25 Years of Success.
It was a gala filled with reflection, recognition, and gratitude. Together, we looked back on the journey that brought us here and forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.

Looking for an Accountant with a two fold role in Accounting and HR.
Accountant Role:
• Assist Chief Accountant in day to day accounting-financial activity, follow up and communication towards crew/suppliers;
• Manage accounting transactions;
• Assist Ch Accountant in handling the monthly, quarterly and annual closings;
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable;
• Ensure timely bank payments;
• Compute taxes;
• Assist Ch Accountant in audit financial transactions and documents;
• Comply with financial policies and regulation in Romania
HR Role:
• Manage and handle the organization employee relations, payroll, benefits;
• Maintain a proper coordination with Labor authority concerning organization’s employees
• Perform REVISAL entries in accordance with Romanian Labor legislation;
• Contribute to create a good working environment;
Ideal candidate should have:
• Work experience as Accountant and conversant with Romanian accounting and labor legislation;
• Good communication skills of English language;
• Good computer literacy MS Office (Word/Excel /Outlook),
• Open and flexible willing to learn and develop a successful career;
• An understanding of shipping industry’s particular demands will be an advantage;
• Good attention to details and good analytical skills;

Recruiting Crew Coordinator
BARKLAV is a Crew Management company operating in the shipping industry, Offshore Oil & Gas and Wind sector, established back in 2000 as a joint-venture between Wilhelmsen Ship Management and Klaveness Ship Management.

The Role:
• Assist Operations Manager in day to day operations, follow up and communication towards crew/vessel/agents/suppliers;
• In charge with Crewing biz process as described below but not limited to:
o Assist Operations Manager in selection and recruitment process;
o Perform pre-joining activities: documents check, scans and uploads in the system
o Arrange flag documents;
o Arrange for medical, vaccination as per instructions;
o Arrange visas for accepted candidates;
o Travel arrangements;
o Coordinate with the seafarer/agent/vessel/Client for a proper crew change process;
• Keep CMS (Crew Management System) updated all time with correct information;
• Scan all docs to new employees and have them inserted/uploaded in the CMS, file manual archive when relevant;
• Maintain the checklist process when there are new candidates for job vacancies to ensure business continuity and assist Crew Manager with the recruitment process;
• Ensure all applicants receive a rapid reply on status of application;
• Ensure a full understanding of the company’s emergency preparedness, keeping all Next of Kin details up to date;
• Assist with the updating of all crew related procedures, processes and handbook;
• Contribute to create a good working environment;
Qualification and experience:
• Minimum of 1 year work experience in a similar position, Maritime industry;
• Bachelor’s degree in maritime sector would be an advantage;
• Good communication skills and very good knowledge of English language;
• Very good computer literacy MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook),
• Open and flexible willing to learn and develop a successful career;
• An understanding of shipping industry’s particular demands will be an advantage;
Remuneration Package:
The remuneration package on offer is a market competitive and oriented one, together with performance incentive and pension/health private scheme, included.

17th May – A very special date in our calendar!
Congratulations – Gratulerer med Dagen to all our Norwegian partners and friends for their National Constitution Day!
This year, 17th May has a special significance for us as we celebrate Barklav’s 20th anniversary and we are very grateful to our shareholders, partners, suppliers and long term Clients who entrusted us in handling their crews during good times but mainly challenging periods.
A special thanks goes to our seafarers for their good work and professionalism shown over the years as well as to our office colleagues for determination and teamwork.

A milestone for Barklav's 20th anniversary
Today, Barklav team successfully turned into opportunity one of the biggest challenges mankind is currently facing – COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
By setting up a charter plane from Bucharest to Amsterdam and back, we managed first and foremost to prove our Client they can always rely on Romanian resources, both human and logistic.
Equally important, we secured 54 jobs for Romanian seafarers, at home for many months on unpaid leave and returned to their families those who have been away for a long and tiring contract.
This would not have been possible without an open and fruitful dialogue with Romanian Authorities - Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Internal Affairs, constant support from Sindicatul Liber al Navigatorilor, Blue Air Airline and our travel agents Happy Tour. Last but not least, constant efforts were made by Barklav staff over the last couple of weeks, tirelessly working for this common goal. We are grateful to all those involved and thank them for cooperation and understanding of the situation.
This successful chapter in Barklav’s history comes to fulfill our 20th anniversary (17th May) and many thanks go as well to our seafarers, who once again, proved to be true professionals and the best ambassadors Romania can have.
Crew changes are on maritime community agenda and there are important signals that within one month, governments, airlines and the shipping community will find a sustainable solution, such that crew changes can be resumed in a safe and coordinated way.
We are stronger together.

Barklav is currently recruiting, on behalf of an important player in the FPSO sector, the below positions:
1. OIM;
2. Maintenance Superintendent;
3. Compressor Top Side;
4. Senior Electronic and instrument Technician
In addition to min 1 year in rank and FPSO experience, Brazil area operational experience is required.
This is a long term operation project which also includes a shipyard conversion period, so a previous shipyard experience is a an advantage.
