When it comes to sensitive skin, the concept of "less is more" is particularly important. The fewer ingredients in a skincare product, the lower the risk of irritation or allergic reactions. Natural bar soaps usually have much lesser ingredients than soap-free (synthetic) cleansers and hence, may be more suitable for those with sensitive skin.

Products with long ingredient lists often contain unnecessary additives that can trigger sensitivity.

Patch Test: Always test new products on a small area before full application.

It's finally the final FAQ of the soap series!
❓FAQ: What is the difference between the Avocado vs Shea range of soap?
It's down to your preference of lather! And, if you prefer a quick bath, the Avocado range might be more suitable for you too as it lathers up more quickly.

For me, I like the Shea range more. While it takes a bit more effort to lather up, the lather is much richer and denser. 🫧 Besides, I also find that the scent from essential oils in the Shea range come across as more intense.

Try both and see which one will be your favourite!

I know it can be confusing. Read this post, if you want to know how I recommend my customers which soap to use.

If you have sensitive or eczema-prone skin, the most suitable soap depends on a few factors.

1️⃣ Firstly, consider the severity of your skin condition. To assess this, observe how frequently you experience flare-ups in a month.
- If flare-ups are persistent, occurring at least twice a month, I recommend starting with our unscented eczema soap. This formulation simplifies ingredients, avoiding potential sensitizers.
- On the other hand, if flare-ups are occasional or once a month, the sensitive skin soap with natural essential oils may be perfect for you.

2️⃣ Secondly, my recommendation is pragmatic and takes into account your current skincare routine.
- If you're already using an unscented product, I suggest switching to our natural unscented eczema soap.
- However, if your current product has synthetic fragrance, even if you experience frequent flare-ups, I prioritize your user experience and suggest trying our sensitive skin soap with natural essential oils. This switch can already provide significant benefits for sensitive or eczema-prone skin.

Frankly, I have customers who have an obsession with washing their hands. And they choose the best care for their hands -- our gentle eczema soaps -- which do not dry skin out while keeping them clean.

So, with our hot and humid weather, I would say you surely will need to shower at least once (with our soaps). But if you need to shower more often, please feel free to use our soaps more than once too!

If you're like me (or my daughter who has eczema) and likes hot showers, I suggest starting the water a little warm and keep adjusting the water's temperature down every few seconds. Cool water on sensitive skin goes a long way.

Happy bathing, with our gentle soaps, with suds that don't dry skin out!

It's a common misconception that soap itself harbors germs, but in reality, soap plays a crucial role in maintaining hygiene. The process of washing with soap is inherently designed to remove and eliminate bacteria and viruses from our skin.

When you use soap and water, the soap molecules work to surround and lift away dirt, oils, and microorganisms from the skin. These contaminants become suspended in the lather and gets (literally) washed down the drain. The soap itself does not promote the growth of germs. In fact, soap bars are inhospitable environments for most bacteria and viruses due to the alkaline nature and the cleansing action.

Regularly rinsing and allowing the soap to dry between uses further minimizes the risk of germs surviving on the soap surface. Overall, using soap as part of proper hand hygiene remains a fundamental and effective practice for preventing the spread of infections and maintaining cleanliness.

Before I entered this business, I too, thought that lather is drying..... After all, all the commercially available eczema cleansers you find in the pharmacy have almost zero lather.

So, here's what I have to say about this misconception:

Lather is created when soap interacts with water and air. Our natural bar soaps are formulated with a mild and moisturizing lather. The lather produced by our soaps is designed to cleanse gently without stripping the skin of its natural oils. We avoid harsh sulfates and prioritize nourishing ingredients that contribute to a hydrating lather.

In fact, the lather in our soaps can be beneficial for eczema-prone skin. It helps in effectively removing impurities and providing a thorough yet gentle cleansing experience. The key is to use a soap specifically crafted for sensitive skin, like ours, to ensure that the lather contributes to a soothing and moisturizing effect.

If you have concerns or specific preferences regarding lather, we recommend performing a patch test to see how our soap interacts with your skin. Many individuals with eczema have found our gentle lathering formula to be a positive addition to their skincare routine, providing a joyous and effective cleansing experience without causing dryness.
