When talking about washing vegetables, everybody has their own ways. Someone told me that her mom taught her to use only salt and water. Then I was thinking about this... In old days, I see my mom use salt and water too to clean vegetables before cooking for the family. The question is, why we need to use vegetable detergent or other detergents to clean vegetables? Do we really need this ❓
Then I found a very good answer which I think I buy his idea. It is a youtube video talking about good food and bad food. A doctor in the video said the method used in the old days, using salt and water to clean vegetable work only in old days.
A quick rinse with water isn’t enough to get rid of harmful bacteria and pesticides. This method is not enough anymore today.
He said in old days, mothers need to deal with only worms in the vegetables, not that many pesticides, using salt and water is good enough to deal with vegetable worms.
