Estée Lauder’s interest in beauty was sparked in high school when her Hungarian uncle came to live with her family and created velvety skin creams, first in the kitchen, then in a laboratory in a stable out back.

Estée got her start selling skin care and makeup in beauty salons, demonstrating her products on women while they were sitting under hair dryers.

The world has changed dramatically since Estée Lauder created her brand in 1946. But the core values she embodied are more relevant and more inspiring to women of all generations than ever before. Today the Company engages with women in more than 150 countries and territories and at dozens of touch points — both in stores and online. And each relationship consistently reflects Estée’s powerful and authentic convictions and unique point of view.

The panoramic beauty of Arizona inspired our founder, Cristina Carlino, in a life-changing way. in 1996, as she hiked Camelback Mountain, a rainbow appeared and moved her to create philosophy,
a personal wellbeing company that emphasizes gratitude with sim-
plicity and balance at its core.

She used to suffer from severe acne and weight problems, but it was then she realised that “my problems has nothing to do with my looks. There didn’t need to be one more diet, one more hairstyle. There needed to be a contribution from me.”

From there, she launched Philosophy in early 1996. Its skin-care line and makeup products had all-natural ingredients made from plant extracts with modern packagings and clever names. The brand then became a huge success, selling out at Nordstorm, Bar-neys New York, and Saks Fifth Avenue and the rest is history.

Brand highlight: Elizabeth Arden💄

Florence Nightingale Graham, who went by the business name Elizabeth Arden dropped out of nursing school in Toronto to work as a bookkeeper for a pharmaceuticals company and then an assistant to beautician named Eleanor Adair.

After gaining valuable industry experience, in 1910 Graham invested $1,000 to start a salon with a partner, Elizabeth Hubbard.

By 1914 Graham's partnership with Hubbard had dissolved, but she opted to remain in the beauty industry. Arden traveled to France to learn beauty and facial massage techniques used in the Paris beauty salons. She returned with a collection of rouges and tinted powders she had created. Then began expanding her international operations in 1915 and started opening salons across the world.

Elizabeth Arden boasts of being the first for many big beauty ideas – the first to introduce eye makeup to the women of America (1914); the first to make travel-size products (1917); the first to offer makeovers in store; the first to offer travelling demonstrations … the list goes on.

In 1966 Arden died at the age of 81. By that time, there were more than 100 Elizabeth Arden salons around the world.

Brand highlight: Chloé💞

Gaby Aghion was born in Alexandria, Egypt. After moving to Paris, France in 1945, she founded Chloé (named after a good friend of hers) in 1952 and created a completely fresh idea of luxury prêt-à-porter (Ready-To-Wear), in contrast to the stiff formality of 1950s fashion.

She wanted women to be able to Iive and work in their dresses - a view of women that was very different than the prevailing view at that time.

She was far ahead of her time as a pioneering female entrepreneur that cloaked her determination and strength with a flirty femininity💃

Brand highlight: Margy’s Monte Carlo✨

Margie Lombard launched her Monaco spa in 1988 with only three treatment rooms. 30 years later, her facials and skincare products has become one of the most sought-after names in the cosmetology industry.

Lombard’s anti-ageing facials and line of products, is loved by celebrities and VIPs including Claudia Schiffer, Tina Turner and Princess Charlene of Monaco, who’d fly into the French Riviera by private jet just to get a facial at her spa.

A pioneer in biomimetic cosmetic, Lombard is one of the first to use collagen, hyaluronic acid, vitamin A and E in her products. Once exclusive to the shores of Monaco, Margy's Monte Carlo has earned its name in Asia with its award-winning collagen facials. Truly inspirational 🤩

Brand highlight: Urban Decay💄

Urban Decay was born in Southern California in 1996, when they disrupted the industry’s sea of pink-dominated counters. Sandy Lerner, a co-founder of Cisco Systems, and Wende Zomnir, wanted to create a badass cruelty-free makeup brand that rebel against the abundance of pink makeup products on the market at that time.

With no experience in cosmetic chemistry and formulations, the duo mixed and matched polish formulas in Zomnir's beach bungalow and their neighbours helped to glue fake nails to their display. Humble beginnings for a brand that now has an Instagram following of 7 million and domination of aisles at Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Macy's, and Nordstrom. 💃
