What They Don’t Tell You
What they don’t tell us about love is this:
Sometimes, we hide how we feel, not because we don’t care—but because we care too much.
And when something feels too big to control, we’d rather walk away from it than get broken by it.
But hiding doesn’t make the feelings go away.
It only makes the heart louder inside.
Later That Night
Mariama sat on her bed, hugging her knees. Her phone buzzed. A message.
Khalid: “I miss our walks. I miss the way you used to look at me like I mattered. If I did something wrong, tell me. But don’t push me away without reason. I’m here. And I mean it.”
She stared at the message for a long time.
No smile. No tears. Just a deep, slow breath.
Then she typed back.
Mariama: “I’m scared. But I miss you too.”

Khalid's Confusion
He sat alone under the mango tree near the football field, thinking hard.
Did I do something wrong?
Was I too fast? Was I too soft?
He replayed every word they’d shared. Every smile. Every silence.
It didn’t make sense.
One week ago, she looked at him like he was her favorite song. Now, she looked past him like he was part of the wall.
He picked up a stone and threw it across the field.
“I hate this,” he mumbled.
But the truth was, he didn’t hate her.
He just hated not knowing.
Zainab, the Middle-Woman
Zainab was not the type to mind her business.
So when she saw Khalid sitting alone after school, she walked right up to him.
"You look like somebody just stole your lunch,” she said, arms crossed.
Khalid looked up. “Why’s your cousin acting strange?”
Zainab raised an eyebrow. “Maybe because she likes you too much.”
He blinked. “What?”
“She’s scared. You make her feel something real, and it’s confusing.”
Khalid sat quiet for a moment. Then he smiled.
“So… she cares?”
Zainab shook her head. “Boys. Always slow. Yes, she cares. But she needs you to show you’re serious.”

Episode 4 – “Feelings We Try to Hide”
Love doesn’t always knock. Sometimes it just walks in and sits down without permission.
That’s how it was with Khalid and Mariama.
They didn’t say it out loud. No one said, “I like you.” But it was there—in the silence, in the way their eyes met, in the way their steps matched when they walked.
But feelings are funny. The more real they get, the more afraid we become.
The Distance Begins
After their last walk together, Mariama started avoiding the shop.
She still thought about Khalid. She still wrote his name, still remembered the way he said, “If this is playing, then it feels real.”
But she also started thinking:
What if this ends? What if he changes? What if I’m the only one feeling this much?
So, she did what most people do when love starts feeling too big—she pulled away.
Khalid noticed.
She didn’t greet him like before. She passed him in the hallway at school with a quick nod, no smile. And when he waited outside her class after school, she slipped away through the back gate.
