“I’m Newly Diagnosed at 90 — and So Thankful” At 90, I am now physically slow and creaky, but mentally alert. I live on my own and still drive my car. My messy house worries no one, though I manage to keep the living room relatively tidy for visitors. I embrace my neurodivergence, happy with who I am.”

“When you personalize a child’s ADHD-associated problems, her self-esteem plummets. But when you team up with your child to problem-solve various negative behaviors, you create a climate where your child feels loved and supported despite her shortcomings.”
Never Punish a Child for Bad Behavior Outside Their Control Your child's bad behavior is not personal. Make ADHD the enemy; not your child. Catch your child being good every day. Stop blaming others. And other rules for parenting a child with ADD that every family needs to hear.

A very inspiring event by Steps Community & Sasin School of Management at the NWRC (Neurodiversity at Work Research Centre). It was so nice to meet likeminded people who believe in moving Thailand towards a truly inclusive society. Steps & Sasin have created a landmark center together which helps bridge the transition from school to employment for the neurodiverse population. ❤️👏

I’ve always been a non fan of writing what I thought were cheesy new year happy gooey updates. What I didn’t realise was that was partially the RSD (Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria) from my ADHD profile. The fear of being judged, the worry of not receiving external validation.. all this anxiety within me and not having the executive function of a neurotypical to work through counterproductive thoughts has crippled so many of my life movements. Yes, on a surface level, I would always say, ‘I don’t care what anyone else thinks,’ but internally, the anxious vibrations were saying otherwise.
In 2023, I took on so many new things in my life.. that felt uncomfortable to do but there was a calling deep within me that kept this challenging wheel running. What I’ve concluded is:
- Give it a try. If it doesn’t work out, at least you’ll know (rather than having the perpetual question in your mind of ‘why didn’t I try that?)
- There is so much toxic positivity content that gets pushed around that when there is a hiccup in the road, you feel like packing it all in. Life is literally about ups and downs. You have to accept the downs as well as the ups. It’s just life.
- Do consume positive content over the negative!! But please sieve through it and utilize what applies to you best, not anyone else.
- No one’s brain is the same, find out what feels good for YOUR brain and YOUR mental health not what you think it should be or what anyone else is doing.
- I’ve never wanted to ‘Keep up with the Jones’ but I feel even more extra about it this year. The only person I’m keeping up with is myself.
I’m writing this as we fly from Harbin to Shanghai to transit to Bangkok. What we didn’t realise when we booked our tickets was that our flight out of Shanghai is from another airport. I guess the confusing China Eastern booking system wanted us to see the Shanghai skyline at night 😁
Happy New Year 2024 everyone!

On Halloween, alot of little people will visit for tricks or treats. 🧡🎃🧡
📣Just a friendly reminder that
💜the child that is grabbing more than one piece might have poor fine motor skills
💜the child that takes a bit of time to pick a piece of candy may have motor planning issues
💜the child that does not say Trick or Treat or Thank You may be non-verbal
💜the child not wearing a costume may have a sensory disorder or autism
It's Halloween 🎃 😁🙃 please be accepting, patient and kind❣️

Spreading awareness is part of the process of normalizing ADHD. October is ADHD awareness month. I hope that one day, we won’t have to use labels anymore and that everyone will understand that no one is the same and that’s what makes the world go round. In the meantime, being aware of ADHD is vital to get to that end point. So let’s fidget the hell away and support each other where we can ❤️

I couldn’t agree with this more. When we have to spell it out publicly that we have a diagnosis we are basically saying, ‘I behave differently from you so please don’t judge me.’ But why do we feel that way?
When a society is centered around neurotypical behavior, it’s really easy to make other types of brains feel like an outcast. But at the end of the day, even neurotypicals have different brains from each other. Remember that everyone needs certain accomodations to get through the day and just because one might need ones that you’ve never seen before, does not mean that they should be judged.

Loving this wall of accomodation tools that Steps Community have put up at their Ekamai branch. The liquid dripping timer is definitely at the top of my shopping list now after holding one in my hands today 😁
