This commonly involves an implant being inserted within the breast. Capsular Contracture is the immune response to foreign materials in the human body. It occurs when the scar tissue or capsule that normally forms around the implant tightens and squeezes the implant. It may be more common following infection, hematoma (collection of blood), and serum. It can cause malshaping and malposition. As a result, a lot of patients have to do reoperation.

CAL is the alternative to implant augmentation, which eliminates of the risks posed by implants, including capsular contracture.

Breast augmentation with artificial implants is one of the most frequently performed aesthetic surgeries but is associated with various complications, such as capsular contracture, that lead to implant removal or replacement at a relatively high rate.
