That there is a gland connected to the follicles of the hair called the SEBACEOUS or OILY GLAND, that secretes an oily substance called SEBUM, which gives luster to the hair and keeps the skin soft and supple,

However, by over producing this substance, they bring on a common form of oily dandruff.

Production of sebum is influenced by five factors :-
-DIET -overeating of sweet, starchy, fatty foods may cause the SEBACEOUS GLANDS to become over active and secrete too much sebum.

-BLOOD CIRCULATION-the hair gets all the nourishment from the blood supply which depends on the types of food you eat for certain elements,so, in absence of necessary foods the health of the hair may be affected.-

-EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCES-are linked with the health of the hair through the nervous system. healthy hair may be an indication of a healthy body.

-STIMULATION OF THE ENDOCRINE GLAND-the secretions of this gland influences the health of the body. any disturbances of these glands may affect the health of the body and, ultimately the health of the hair.

-DRUGS- such as hormones if taken without a doctor`s advice may adversely the hairs ability to to receive permanent wavein or other hair services.
