Thank you for all the positive comments from my post yesterday about dramas and documentaries regarding Queen Elizabeth ll. As promised here is my second post of my recommended shows you might like to watch about the Queen. 🙂
Let's start with the film, The Queen, made in 2006. Set in the wake of the death of Princess Diana in 1997, the movie depicted one of the most challenging weeks in the life of the monarch. Actress Helen Mirren won an Oscar for her portrayal of the Queen. The film is available on Netflix.
The Queen's Coronation in 1953 may now be in the distant past, but this colour version of the event is very enjoyable if you like pomp, ceremony and grandeur. The programme also has light hearted behind the scenes footage of the event. It is available on the ITV Hub & Netflix.
Elizabeth R is a documentary that followed the life of the Queen over 12 months in 1990/91. It shows private moments of the Queen in her residencies, on tour and at the Epsom Derby, were she is seen getting slightly annoyed with the Queen Mother who was teasing her. The programme is available on BBC iPlayer, but only in the UK.
