During the summer they can give 2-3 litters of 2 5 cubs. Pregnancy lasts 30-31 days.

At the end of summer, the animals put them in small stacks, dry them and press them down with stones. To get to these stocks in the winter starvation, they dig tunnels under the snow.

They live in family groups in underground burrows or crevices between stones. The main food, like all relatives, is the leaves and stems of cereals and other herbaceous plants.

These small, short-legged animals move in small leaps and, since they are much inferior in running speed to rabbits and hares, they never stray far from their holes.
