On May 4, 2021, in the semi-final match with Paris Saint-Germain, Zinchenko provided an assist to Riyad Mahrez (2: 0) and helped Manchester City, on aggregate, reach the first UEFA Champions League final in its history[22] . On May 29, 2021, he entered the main team for the final match of the Champions League against Chelsea (1: 0) and became the third Ukrainian player who got the opportunity to play at this stage of the tournament[23].

On January 9, 2019, Zinchenko scored his first goal for Manchester City in the semi-final of the 2018/19 League Cup season, hitting the gates of the Burton Albion club with a spectacular long-range shot into the "nine". In the match of the 27th round of the 2018/19 Premier League, he gave 3 assists, thanks to which Manchester City defeated London Chelsea 6:0[18]. According to the WhoScored portal, Zinchenko became the best player in the 2018/19 League Cup final, having played 120 minutes of the match against the same Chelsea[19]. In February 2019, Manchester City fans named Zinchenko the best player of the month among the players of their favorite team[20]. On December 13 of the same year, he played for the first time in the Premier League in a match against Swansea City (4: 0), coming on as a substitute in the 73-minute instead of Fabian Delph. At the end of 2017, he played in the FA Cup victory in December against Leicester City (1:1 (4:3))[15] and in January in the FA Cup against Burnley (4:1)[16] . On January 9, 2018, Zinchenko entered the field as a left back against Bristol City (2: 1) in a League Cup match. On January 20, he started in the same position in the 24th round of the Premier League against Newcastle United [17]. Having made more than five appearances for City in 2017/18, he became the Premier League champion.

In his international career, the striker led Ukraine as captain to the quarter-finals in his first-ever World Cup in 2006, and also took part in Euro 2012 in his home country.

On July 28, 2012, Shevchenko announced that he was leaving football for politics[11]. In the October 2012 parliamentary elections, he ran for the Ukrainian parliament[12], but his party failed to gain parliamentary representation[13][14].

He won the UEFA Champions League in 2003 with AC Milan and has won various league and cup titles in Ukraine, Italy and England. He also finished second in the Champions League in 2005 and 2008. In 2005, he was included in the list of the best players in the world by FIFA.

With 176 goals scored for Milan, he is the second most prolific player in the club's history, as well as the top scorer in the Milan Derby (the derby between Milan and local rivals Inter Milan) with 14 goals.
