OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT: REFUTATION OF FALSE ALLEGATIONS CIRCULATING ON SOCIAL MEDIA
LEER, SOUTH SUDAN â The Office of the Leer County Commissioner strongly and categorically refutes the malicious, fabricated, and entirely baseless allegations circulating on social media platforms, specifically a recent post published by an online page operating under the name "Dargiu LiveNews."
The defamatory post falsely claims that Leer County Commissioner, Hon. Stephen Taker Riak D**g, ordered the killing of a schoolboy in Guat Payam.
The Office wishes to inform the public, community members, and the media that these allegations are completely untrue, lack any shred of evidence, and are designed purely to misinform the public, create unnecessary panic, and tarnish the reputation of leadership.
The Office of the Commissioner operates strictly under the rule of law, with a primary focus on ensuring peace, security, and the protection of all citizensâespecially the youth and studentsâwithin Leer County.
We urge the public and social media users to disregard this flagrant misinformation.
We also call upon local media outlets and online commentators to adhere to the principles of responsible journalism by verifying facts with official communication channels before publishing sensitive reports that can impact public safety.
The public is assured that Leer County remains peaceful, and official channels will continue to provide accurate updates regarding local administrative and security matters.

The Price of Ungratefulness: True Leadership is Not Defined by Position
It is both deeply unfortunate and revealing when personal ambition blinds individuals to the very hands that raised them.
A recent social media post by John Chuol Riak Kuneng attempts to cast a shadow over the hard work happening in Leer County, turning a major community milestone into a platform for personal frustration.
For someone who has directly benefited from the mentorship, guidance, and support of Hon. Maj. Gen. Stephen Taker Riak D**g, turning around to attack him simply because a personal recommendation did not go his way is the ultimate sign of political immaturity and ungratefulness.
True loyalty and leadership are tested not when everything goes your way, but when you are asked to serve the community regardless of your personal title.
To hide personal grievances behind religious rhetoric and community suffering is an insult to the intelligence of the people of Leer County.
Hon. Maj. Gen. Stephen Taker Riak D**g remains focused on delivery, development, and unity. The finishing phases of the Leer County infrastructure speak for themselves.
Progress cannot be stalled by the bitter words of those who value titles over teamwork.
Let us remain united for the development of our county and refuse to be distracted by personal politics.

SUBJECT: UPDATE ON THE SECURITY SITUATION IN LEER COUNTY AND THE RESOLUTION OF RECENT TENSIONS
The Office of the County Commissioner wishes to inform the public and the media about the security incidents that transpired in Leer County over the last 48 hours, and the subsequent restoration of calm.
The Incident
Yesterday, the County Commissioner officially assigned the Deputy Payam Administrator of Guat Payamâwho has served the area faithfully for yearsâto also take on the role of Chairman.
Following this assignment, certain elements of the SPLM-IO residing in Guat Payam rejected the decision, claiming dissatisfaction with a government-designated official.
This disagreement escalated into a verbal argument and a brief exchange of gunfire between the dissenting individuals.
Local Payam administrative authorities intervened promptly and dispersed the armed individuals from the area.
Subsequent Escalation
Earlier today, the disgruntled elements launched a targeted attack on the residence of the long-serving Payam Administrator.
Local security forces acted swiftly to defend the residence, once again repelling the attackers and securing the area.
Following this second clash, SPLM-IO military reinforcements from Adok began advancing toward Leer town, threatening to escalate the conflict further.
Community Intervention and Resolution
Recognizing the imminent threat to civilian lives, the respected traditional leader, Tiling Gatnyinyar, intervened.
Leader Gatnyinyar issued a stern and decisive warning to the advancing forces, stating that any attack on Leer would result in the mass mobilization of the civilian population alongside the County Commissionerâs security forces to repel them.
Following this robust traditional intervention and subsequent counseling, the advancing forces heeded the warning and retreated to their previous positions.
Current Status
The Office of the County Commissioner is pleased to report that the situation in Leer is now entirely calm. Throughout these events, the local market remained open, and citizens have continued to go about their daily businesses and activities without fear.
Official Stance: The local government strongly condemns any attempts to use violence to solve administrative grievances. We applaud the brave intervention of our traditional leadership, particularly Leader Tiling Gatnyinyar, for standing firmly on the side of peace and community stability.
The government remains committed to dialogue and the peaceful resolution of any administrative disputes, and assures all residents of Leer County that their safety and security remain our highest priority.
