I wanted to share a post of gratitude for our most recent stockist and the first store to open its doors to Volk here in Albuquerque, New Mexico - ✨

I met Alannah through a mutual friend when we first landed in Albuquerque in the spring of 2025. I was desperately trying to scrape together some new gardening clients and hadn’t even thought of finding a home for Volk products yet but here was Alannah, with open arms, providing a start in caring for the gardens on a property she manages beautifully and also ready to take on some Volk products whenever I was ready with a fresh batch. She was the answer to my dreams and the most important first step in making my new life work out for the best and I could not be more grateful. This woman shows up to the world with such light and high vibration and I see nothing from her but a constant effort to curate healing energy in her surroundings, taking this world in all its grief and beauty in her graceful stride.

And that is exactly the energy she and her partner, Alec, bring to the Bloom Stone. This amazing store is stocked with anything you need to bring beauty and healing into your life. Gorgeous displays of art, incense, herbal teas, self care products, books, and luscious healthy plants along with spiritually charged crystals, stones, and singing bowls - the place is a whole vibe and I love it. Alec is an absolute expert with keeping the most beautiful and unique indoor plants and we’ve been privileged with getting a tour of his favorites and a wealth of information around the shop. Alannah just understands the art of leaving her magic in every thoughtful touch in this space. They hold tarot readings and utilize their resources for the goodness of their community. I can’t say enough - I just want you all to go visit them and support this pillar of positivity in our beautiful city.

Hello Friends of Volk!

I wanted to write with an update as we approach the holiday season. This year has been full of welcome and amazing changes in my life. As my love and I have been working hard to settle into our beautiful new home here in Albuquerque, I have been taking a step back to reassess what I’d like for the future of Volk Remedies.

I want these products to continue spreading comfort to everyone they reach. I want to stick to the basics of the botanical materials that speak to me and I’ll continue to uphold my standards for quality with ethically sourced and sustainably cultivated ingredients. I want this to continue to be a practice full of love and inspiration.

Getting to share Volk with all of you has woven so much magic into my life. I’m so grateful to have had you on this journey with me and I am looking forward to what lies ahead.

So for this year, I’m not participating in markets and I will have far less in the shop as I simplify the product line but I am so pleased to announce that a fresh batch of my signature Piñon Body Oil will be available with new, beautiful, oil resistant labels!

I’ll make an announcement when they are ready for purchase and as always I am happy to ship them safely to you.

This was one of the most amazing stands of Horsetail I have ever come upon in the wild. This Equisetum hyemale was found at the bottom of a desert canyon in southeastern New Mexico, nestled happily among some little leaf sumac and milkweed, in a cool oasis just feet below some of the harshest climate (hot, rocky, bone dry, and southwest facing) you can experience in the United States.

Equisetum hyemale is known for its potent medicinal properties, namely its high silica content, promoting hair, skin, and nail health. Silica supports collagen production promoting skin elasticity and overall health, thickness, and shine of hair and increasing the strength of nails.

In the spirit of ethical foraging, I did not wind up harvesting any from this patch of horsetail. These pockets of microclimates are so precious here in the desert and some things are too sacred to be disturbed. I just wanted us all to appreciate its beauty.

Waking up to soft pattering and the fragrance of a penetrating desert rain on the blooming creosote makes the world feel like magic.

It never ceases to amaze me how the desert manages to bring you exactly the medicine you need. You just have to be open to it and be there to witness it.

As promised, my Six Horses Salve is now available for purchase in the online shop. Like most of Volk’s products, this is a precious small batch and only available while supplies last. Happy New Year!

This skin soothing salve is a blend of powerful botanical ingredients, ethically foraged Piñon resin and Big Sagebrush, and sustainably cultivated Lavender infused in organic olive oil and gently mixed with organic beeswax. The fragrance is unique to the desert valleys of Colorado and New Mexico - warm and almost spiced, wild and clean.

Six Horses Salve was developed as a way to incorporate more of my life story into Volk. It has to do with patterns and recognizing signs when they reach through the ether. It’s a method of transporting to lifetimes of memory tied to place and spirit.
