I don’t prefer to start microlocs with braids or two-strand twists — it’s just not my go-to method. One of my reasons is those methods reauire more maintenance until the locs settle in . BUT this client knew exactly what she wanted and insisted… and as a professional, I honored that.
And babyyyy when I say it came out GORGEOUS 😍🔥
Just because I don’t like doing something doesn’t mean I can’t do it. Skill is skill. Experience is experience. Period.

BEFORE getting microlocs/Sisterlocks™️, it's crucial to do your research and find a highly qualified Loctician who has experience. Micro locs/Sisterlocks™️ require a precise technique and expert maintenance to ensure they stay neat and healthy.
Additionally, choose a Loctician who can also perform repairs if needed. Microlocs/Sisterlocks™️, like any other protective style, can sometimes require adjustments or repairs due to breakage or slippage, and you want someone who has the skills to handle these issues without compromising the integrity of your hair.
Within the last few weeks I've met with about 10 clients that want to transfer to me due to needing repairs to their microlocks/Sisterlocks™️ after experiencing damage from improper installation or poor maintenance somewhere else. When micro locs aren't installed or maintained properly, they can cause slippage, breakage, or uneven growth, leading to frustration and costly fixes down the line. It's so important to invest in the right Loctician from the start to avoid these issues. Yes. Anybody can do them but everybody doesn't have the passion nor the knowledge to maintain them properly. So stop letting people take your hard earned money based on the picture posted the day of.
I am forever taking a class/continuing to be educated by the best in the game no matter the cost. Why? Because my clients deserve quality hair and a qualified loctician. Let’s Talk Microlocs: Because Not Every Chair is a Safe One
Sis… I need to say something. Not as a stylist, but as someone who deeply cares about our crowns.
If you’re new to the microloc journey, there are things you might not know to look out for. And it breaks my heart watching good women get bad service from some stylists who simply aren’t trained or trauma-informed.
So let me say this plain:
✨ Reties should NOT hurt.
Tenderness is part of the journey.
The longer you go without regular manipulation, the more your scalp adjusts — and for many, that means becoming more tender over time. Even if you weren’t tender-headed before, you might notice it now. That’s normal.
But there’s a difference between tenderness and pain.
A sensitive scalp should be met with gentleness — not plucking, pulling, or tension so intense it feels like your head is on fire.
If you’re leaving the chair feeling raw or bruised, that’s not care — that’s harm. And it’s not okay.
✨ No gel, no jam, no product.
If someone’s using product to force “clean parts,” they don’t understand the microloc method. That’s not locking — that’s styling with shortcuts.
✨ Frizz is not the enemy.
Your hair will frizz in the beginning. It’s part of the sacred process. That frizz eventually compacts and forms your lock. If someone’s grabbing a crochet needle or scissors to “fix” it — they’re manipulating what your hair knows how to do on its own.
✨ Ask questions. Always.
How were you trained?
What’s your maintenance process?
Do you have real client photos?
And don’t just ask for install pics — ask for progression photos.
Because a day-one install might look clean, but the real story shows up months later. You need to see how that work holds over time.
Because just having hands doesn’t mean they’ve been called to touch your crown.
