A lot of people are reach for DIY remedies like apple cider vinegar, but professional glossing treatments and keratin smoothing services are designed to help create smoother, shinier, more manageable hair while supporting long-term color maintenance.

If you’re constantly battling frizz, excessive puffiness, or dull-looking color, the answer may not be another product. It may be the right treatment plan.

Serving Roswell, Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, and Atlanta with personalized color, gray blending, glossing, and keratin smoothing treatments.

Ready for smoother, lower-maintenance hair? Send me a message or book your consultation today.

Eight years ago today, I was in Australia, wandering through Sydney and Melbourne.

Looking back, it was one of the most magical chapters of my life and one of the most painful.

There were incredible adventures, unforgettable people, and moments I thought would last forever. There were also hard lessons, relationships that didn’t survive the journey, and more time spent holding onto the wrong things than I’d like to admit.

Hindsight is a strange gift. It doesn’t let you change the past, but it lets you finally understand it.

These days, I look back with gratitude instead of regret. Every wrong turn taught me something. Every loss made room for something new. Every mistake became part of the person I am now.

If I could tell that version of myself anything, it would be this: enjoy it more, worry less, and trust that some endings are actually beginnings in disguise.

“ Is your hair color natural?”

Absolutely.

Naturally, every 6 to 8 weeks I see my stylist. 😏

Here’s the secret nobody talks about: ALL hair color requires maintenance.

Whether you’re a blonde, brunette, redhead, gray coverage client, or rocking dimensional balayage, your color is constantly changing. Sun exposure, shampoo, hard water, heat styling, and everyday life all contribute to fading.

The difference between hair that always looks expensive and hair that looks “off” usually isn’t the color formula.

It’s consistency.

Some guests need maintenance every 4 to 6 weeks. Others can comfortably stretch 10 to 12 weeks. The key is finding a schedule that keeps your color looking intentional, fresh, and healthy year-round.

If you’ve been wondering why your color doesn’t look the same as it did when you left the salon, it might not be the formula.

It might be time for a refresh.

Partial highlights are not always the answer. ✂️

When only the mohawk section is highlighted over and over, those bright pieces fall over darker lengths underneath. From the top it may look blonde, but once the hair moves, the underneath can look dull, heavy, and lifeless.

Hair should look beautiful from every angle, not just the surface.

That’s why I focus on strategic, intentional highlighting instead of repetitive partials. My pricing is all-inclusive so I can customize what your hair actually needs and keep the entire canvas looking balanced, dimensional, and expensive looking. ✨

Colorists: what’s the worst piece of color advice you’ve ever heard? Bonus points if it someone you admired.

A salon owner once told a stylist to do a base break after highlights to disguise s**t placement. 🥴👀

That s**t advice and here’s why!

A base break only lightens or “bumps” the natural hair between the highlights. It can reduce contrast, but it cannot change the placement, spacing, thickness, or pattern of the highlights themselves.

The eye sees placement before it sees tone.

If the highlights are poorly executed, lightening the surrounding hair doesn’t fix the problem. It just changes the background. Reveling a lot of underlying pigment I might add.

It also introduces another chemical process immediately after highlighting, increasing the risk of overlap onto freshly lightened hair, which is already more porous and vulnerable. Driving a car without a steering wheel.

Chemistry can’t solve an artistic problem.

Better placement and more education is what that stylist would have done better hearing. Unfortunately, she was given a half ass approach to hairdressing crash course.

🥣 Whisk for color. Spatula for lightener.

Just because both go in a bowl doesn’t mean they should be mixed the same way.

Hair color is a liquid or cream formula. A whisk helps blend the color and developer evenly, creating a smooth consistency and ensuring the dye molecules are distributed throughout the formula.

Lightener is different. Bleach contains persulfates and other ingredients that create tiny air pockets as they’re mixed. Using a whisk can whip excess air into the mixture, causing it to swell, dry out faster, and potentially become less predictable. A spatula lets me fold the product together while maintaining a smoother, creamier consistency.

🧠 THE SCIENCE:
Color = emulsify and blend thoroughly.
Lightener = mix completely without over-aerating.

✂️ BEHIND THE CHAIR:
Sometimes great hair isn’t about a secret formula. It’s about using the right tool for the right job.

Have you ever noticed your stylist using different mixing tools and wondered why?

Some people were taught, “Find a penny, pick it up. All day long you’ll have good luck.”

I was taught to leave it where it is.

Not because of the penny, but because you don’t know what came before it.

Hair is the same way.

Not every trend, product, or piece of advice belongs to you. The secret isn’t knowing what to pick up. It’s knowing what to leave behind.

✨ Your best hair starts with intention, not imitation.

Behind the chair, every stylist has their own little survival secrets. ✂️

Mine?
I always wear shoes I can slide off easily.

Not because I’m trying to be casual, but because after years as a professional dancer, my feet basically file daily complaints with HR for existing. Somewhere between balayage, blowouts, and standing for 8+ hours, I’m usually stretching my arches between clients or a tennis ball behind the shampoo basin.

Hairdresser life is funny like that. Clients see the polished result, but behind the chair there are tiny rituals that keep us going:
• stretching feet
• inhaling coffee at lightning speed
• color formulas scribbled like ancient math
• remembering your dog’s name before your own lunch plans

And honestly? Those little things are part of what creates real community.

One of my favorite things about serving the Roswell, Alpharetta, Sandy Springs & Atlanta area is the relationships built over time. You stop being “just a client” and start becoming part of someone’s weekly rhythm, life updates, celebrations, and healing seasons.

Hair is personal. The people behind the chair are too.

What’s a tiny “behind the scenes” thing people would never expect about your job? 👀
