It’s one thing to know that stretching before and after a workout is important - it’s another to know which kinds of stretch will most benefit you - and when.
Dynamic stretches involve steadily moving in and out of a stretch several times to warm up the muscle area about to be engaged in a workout. These should be performed BEFORE working out.
STATIC stretches, on the other hand, have a cooling a releasing effect, and so will only be beneficial when performed AFTER working out.
This might sound like simple information, but I promise you, the physical effects are very clear. Make sure you’re stretching in the right way for your warm up and cool down!
