✨ THREE-WEEK RETENTION CHECK ✨retention education!!

These lashes are 3 weeks old and have been well taken care of!👏 these pictures include how the client arrived, after removal of grown out lashes, and her fresh fill!

One thing many clients don’t realize is that lash retention isn’t the same for everyone— Natural lash structure can be the difference.

Natural lashes vary from person to person. Some lashes are naturally more porous, meaning they have tiny openings in the hairs that allow adhesive to grip and bond more effectively. Think of it like the pores on our face, some people have more deeper , pores and some do not. However, more porous lashes often create a stronger bond and can result in longer-lasting retention.

On the other hand, some clients have very smooth, less porous lashes. While we can still achieve beautiful results, those lashes may not hold adhesive quite as easily, which can sometimes affect retention.

Another huge factor? CLEAN LASHES. 🫧

When natural lashes are free of oils, makeup, and buildup(dead skin cells), those tiny openings in the natural lash are clear and ready for the adhesive to bond properly. Dirty lashes can create a barrier between the natural lash and the extension adhesive, which creates a weaker bond. A silly analogy I like to use is, thinking of taping something to a dirty window. That tape will hold for a little while but will eventually fall off due to it sticking more to dirt than glass. But if you windex that window before you tape something to it, that tape will stay on forever!

The key to great retention:
✔️ Clean lashes
✔️ Proper aftercare
✔️ Healthy natural lashes
✔️ Understanding that every client’s lash characteristics are unique

Remember: Lash retention is never one-size-fits-all, and comparing your retention to someone else’s isn’t always an apples-to-apples comparison.

I have been blessed with long time returning lash clients who become friends. Paige Ingram is one of those special people. We showered her and Quaid, the second baby that will soon be apart of the SDR Beauty Studio lash family but will probably ditch out on us after a few years to join his dad on the golf course down the road. But until then…he will get to hang out with the girls like big sister did! 💙🩷
