Porous hair isn’t always “naturally porous.”
A lot of the time, it’s damaged porous hair and that changes everything.

When the cuticle is lifted from heat, chemicals, or mechanical stress, the hair swells. That swelling exposes the cortex, not just the cuticle. This is where many people go wrong.

Heavy oils and butters don’t fix porous hair they often make it worse.
Why? Because once the cortex is exposed, oils sit inside the hair shaft instead of smoothing the cuticle. This creates a hydrophobic barrier that:

• stiffens the hair
• reduces flexibility
• blocks moisture balance
• causes silk presses to revert faster
• makes curl sets and wraps fall flat or feel hard

That’s why the hair may feel dry, coated, or “greasy but brittle” at the same time.

Damaged porous hair needs cuticle control first.
Not more oil.

Low-pH products and bond-building treatments help:
• flatten and tighten the cuticle
• reduce swelling
• restore slip and elasticity
• improve shine
• help styles last longer

Once the cuticle is sealed and the cortex protected, then lightweight moisture and targeted oils can be used correctly not as a band-aid.

Healthy hair isn’t about adding more.
It’s about using the right chemistry for the condition of your hair.
