It's been a hot couple of days! During these high temperatures, please keep your pets at home - it is dangerous and against the law to leave pets in hot cars.

Temperatures can rise very quickly in cars, even with windows cracked. If the outside temperature is 70 degrees or above and you see a pet in a car, follow the steps below to help them stay safe.

1) Record the make, model, license plate and vehicle location
2) Call LCAS at 703-777-0406 or LCSO at 703-777-1021
3)Notify the store/restaurant the car is park in front of and ask if they can page for the vehicle/pet owner
4) Stay, if possible, to help the response team locate the vehicle
