PS- Make sure it’s the new page with address 900 Hendersonville Rd! xoxo

We can’t wait to see you in our new space!
‼️WE HAVE MOVED!‼️
Ravin’ Salon has officially reopened in a new temporary location, where we will operate for 2025, while our old location continues to rebuild.
NEW LOCATION:
830 Hendersonville Road
Suite 201
Asheville, NC 28803
We are ABOVE Piano Emporium- go up the exterior staircase and we are on the right (Door #1). This location is not handicap accessible, please let your stylist know if you are unable to walk up a flight of stairs.
All appointments, starting January 2, will be at the new location- NOT at Serenity Spa.
We are so grateful for your patience and support over the past 3 months while we have been working on getting our salon back. Thank you! ❤️

I found this in the salon mud yesterday, it could be from anywhere upstream of Biltmore Village- so I know it’s a long shot. In a pile of unrecognizable trash was this sweet little face- please share, maybe it would make someones day to have it back. ❤️

Please share this or tag your friends who own or work in small businesses. ❤️
I know it is long, but it is important.
There is a lot of misunderstanding about how small businesses that have been destroyed need help.
Everyone in our community is struggling right now- no matter if you suffered property loss, personal loss, or if you are unharmed and just having to absorb all of this destruction.
People are starting to have cell service restored and the result is the most beautiful outpouring of love, support, and eagerness to help our neighbors that I have ever experienced.
I am noticing that the misunderstanding lies in what most assume will be “fixed” by insurance and disaster relief aid. I am going to use my small business as an example, only because I have the numbers to explain it with- my business is one of so so many needing help- pick one, doesn’t have to be mine!
Here’s how it works:
The worst flood (in our lifetime) at my business location was 20 years ago and the water came inside almost 3 feet. We do not own our building so we carry NFIP/FEMA flood insurance on our contents alone. Our flood insurance policy covers $17,000 in contents, with a $1,000 deductible. That is enough coverage for a flood that comes 3 feet into the shop- we would have had to replace 8 stations (dressers), 8 stylist chairs, and a handfull of low-lying miscellaneous items. $16,000 would have had us back on our feet after a couple months of landlord repairs and community cleanup inside.
However, this flooding was unlike anything we ever expected or prepared for. The water came all the way up to the top of the salon, 12 feet, at least. It was so strong that it took out walls, exterior structure, ceiling light rails, interior doors, EVERYTHING IN ITS PATH. We are accepting the fact that they will most likely deem the space a total loss and demolish the entire building.
$16,000 insurance reimbursement is about 25% of what we would need to replace the contents we own that are now gone.
The FEMA disaster relief aid link keeps getting sent to me- it is for homes. My home wasn’t compromised. I didn’t get approved.
The SBA disaster relief aid Loan link is being shared- when we know where we can move to or what will happen to our location we might consider it- but it is a LOAN with payments that we can’t afford without business coming in. For the first time in 20 years my salon was debt free beginning March 2024- something Amanda and I worked tirelessly to achieve- a loan scares us right now.
My work family is comprised of 8 independent contractors. We don’t have PTO or paycheck protection. If we do not see clients we do not get paid. The gofundme was set up out of dire need for cash flow for our staffs bills and immediate expenses.
I know how much every small business owner hated setting up their fundraising accounts because I felt the same pit in my stomach when setting up ours. Nobody wants to ask for money- especially when everyone is going through this mess at the same time. But we NEED it. We are SCARED of how we will pay our bills. I love each of you that have offered to come shovel mud out of the salon- a week ago we assumed that was exactly the type of help we would need- but it’s not salvageable guys. There’s nothing to dig out and wash off.
This PSA was long- but the intent is for 2 things:
1. Don’t assume that insurance is going to fix everything- most of us just don’t have enough coverage for something of this magnitude.
2. Even if you can only spare $25- pick 5 small businesses that you love and send them each $5. I swear to you every $5 that comes through the donation link brings us a tiny bit of relief.
Our page is for staff pay.
Other pages may be needing supplies.
Some may be needing funds to rebuild.
Whatever their purpose- I promise if they are asking it is because they are drowning in fear.
Speaking on behalf of every lost business:
WE LOVE EACH OF YOU FOR ASKING HOW YOU CAN HELP. WE ARE TOO PRIDEFUL TO RESPOND TO YOUR TEXT BY SAYING “WE NEED MONEY”. If you are able- just send the donation. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed, from the deepest place in our hearts.
Another note: Clients are offering to prepay for hair appointments in order to get money to their stylist- this is so kind and generous but it isn’t a practical solution because a month from now, when we finally get to do hair again- we will be working without the income flowing again. It’s a band-aid. We love your hearts for thinking of it but this is why most of us avoid it.

THANK YOU to everyone who has reached out in support of our work family. So many have asked how you can help- immediate funding is the most urgent priority, as we are unable to work until we secure a temporary accommodation and our city restores water and power. Two of our Ravin’ Salon girls also have severe damage to their homes and vehicles. We have (reluctantly) made a GoFundMe page to start raising money to help triage the situation.

I aKelli Claym crying and thinking. I have never worked in any other salon. Ravin’ is my home away from home and the place where Kelli Clay taught me everything there is to learn about our industry. I know, I know… it’s “just a building”- but is it?? That building had a spirit and a life when you walked in. It’s the place where 8 women went daily to provide for their families and spend time with their friends and clients. It’s a sanctuary for me, where I feel and hear Kelli- where I connect with women from all walks of life, where I feel like I am meant to be. It’s too hard to picture the future just yet- but I know we will come out okay on the other side of this all. Hug your friends and family tightly and remember that we are stronger together. Our town is beautifully showing off it’s strength in community; helping neighbors and strangers just the same. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I just woke up to power back on at my house, updating while it is on because it came on Friday evening but only for an hour. Cell towers are down here. Everyone is without power and internet so there is virtually no communication until power returns. We, and our immediate family, are safe. Thank you to everyone who has reached out. My salon is still inaccessible but we have confirmed that it was underwater. I am trying to stay positive but it’s really hard- Ravin’ Salon is a family in and of itself- made of 8 strong women who call it home every day, and hundreds of wonderful people who keep us in business every month. We will update when able to get there. Please let me know if I can aid in connecting any of you with family while I have power. xoxoxo

No power at the salon so I can’t check our cameras since 3:17am. This is the latest update (5:38am) I can find. Please pray that our salon makes it through and if you have any better updates on the situation in the village let me know. ❤️🙏🏻

Friends! I need your help! I am excited to share that I will be attending a mission trip in Mellieha, Malta this October where I will be serving missionary women from around the world by using my trade- volunteering haircuts and styling. As enthusiastic as I am to get there and pamper these well-deserving women, I can’t get there without the help of my community! Every dollar donated towards my goal helps. Please share and contribute if you’re able. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and for all of your support; I can’t wait to share my experience with all of you later this year. Thank you! ❤️ PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CLICK ON THE “PARTNER WITH MARCI” BUTTON BENEATH MY PICTURE/BIO.
