Do you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) through your employer? If so, do you still have funds in it? π€
Every year, MILLIONS of dollars are forfeited because employees didn't use up all their FSA funds before the end of the year. Please don't be one of them. π
If you DO have a balance left, you can probably use those funds to pay for massage & bodywork. π
Check with your plan administrator and schedule an appointment before the clock runs out! π

This week we are celebrating Massage Therapy Awareness Week. π π
So we thought we'd share a few fun facts about how massage therapy clients view it's impact.
π¬ During a recent national survey of massage therapy consumers...
β
69% agree massage therapy is more than just "pampering".
β
86% think massage therapy should be considered health care.
β
94% believe massage therapy is an effective form of pain relief.
AND...
π―% of our therapists agree! π
It's clear that once people experience quality bodywork, they understand it's value and impact it has on our ability to move freely and without pain. π€ΈββοΈ
The bigger challenge (and our ULTIMATE goal) is to share that experience and freedom with folks that haven't yet experienced the benefits of . π
Know someone who can benefit from our work? Share this post with them or tag them below! π₯ ππΌ

"Grace was incredible!! I've been having chronic pain in my neck for over a year. I've done chiropractic and PT. It's all been fine, but this massage was what I needed to get me to the other side. I feel a whole lot better. Grace really targeted my problem area. She was great at giving me suggestions for things to do at home and making me comfortable throughout the massage. 10 stars!!"

THIS is why we do what we do! π€©
Colleen is the newest addition to our team, but is no newbie to providing effective pain relief. She consistently exceeds client expectations with her compassionate, results-driven bodywork. β€οΈπͺ
"Colleen was an instant success, she really listens, seems to know what to do to help immediately and progresses from there. She is a rare combination of skills. She changes modality as needed and is sincerely interested and listens to you.
If you want 100% don't make an appointment with Colleen because she gives 150%. I am happy to say I am way ahead of my schedule in my healing because of her."

In times of crisis, first responders are not just the first on the scene, but often the last to leave.
Our local (and out of state) heroes have been working tirelessly for weeks to keep us safe and restore utilities, communication, and transportation. It's all too easy to take these things for granted, but counting each and every blessing is how we move forward. Through this recovery period and beyond. ππΌ
So we are honored to be able to give back to our first responders with the gift of massage therapy.
Through the end of the year, first responders may receive 50% OFF a therapeutic massage*.

We also know that some of you are out of town or preoccupied. If so, we ask that you consider purchasing an egift card in the meantime. https://brownmountainbodywork.com/gift-cards
We are very fortunate that the studio and all of our staff are safe. However, the unexpected closure has put a strain on us and egift cards would be a tremendous help in the meantime. ππ½

Helene's Heroes π¦ΈπΌ
The response from the community to come together and support each other has been awe inspiring. We are looking at ways that we can support those who have been instrumental in recovery efforts. There are sooo many! Do you know of any unsung heroes? This could be an individual, group, or organization.
Let us know who deserves some TLC! ππΌ

We are simultaneously devastated and inspired by the recent events in Western North Carolina. I (Zach) have lived in Asheville almost my entire life and my roots here go back generations. My grandfather grew up in a βhollerβ of Jonathan Creek, just north of Lake Junaluska. β°οΈ
It is crushing to see many of these small Appalachian communities decimated in an area that was traditionally though of as βsafeβ from natural disasters. Earthquakes were a California thing. Tornadoes were a Midwest thing. Hurricanes a coastal thing. πͺοΈ
But it is also inspiring to see neighbors stepping up to serve and support each other without hesitation or compensation. Strangers lending a hand whenever and however they can. (This is our true nature when all the BS is stripped away.) π«
Amber and I have evacuated to stay with family in Raleigh. Grace and Colleen are both accounted for and safe. The studio is in good shape and awaiting our return. We are truly touched by your inquiries and appreciate your concern. We consider yaβll our extended family and look forward to reconnecting with all of you soon. In the meantime, we are focused on reestablishing basic needs while supporting our families and neighbors. πͺπ½
We will be in touch with additional updates as things evolve. Please let us know how you are holding up in the comments. We would love to know how you are doing and, if possible, how we can help. π¬

Fall has officially arrived and like many of you, weβre thrilled! Weβre not big on pumpkin spice lattes π, but we do LOVE the transition seasons of spring and fall. The weather in this part of Appalachia is divine and itβs always a pleasure to witness the mountain foliage transform.
This season brings a host of outdoor activities from hiking the π₯Ύ , to camping in the ποΈ, and biking along the π΄π½ββοΈ .
Itβs also a time when our bodies are preparing for cooler weather and transitioning from the hot, busy summer season. This makes it a great time to get some bodywork too! C'mon in for a tune up to help you ease into autumn.

September is Awareness Month.
In 2001, the American Chronic Pain Association led a coalition of groups to create the first Pain Awareness Month.
is defined as persistent pain lasting at least three months.
It affects more than 50 million adults in the U.S. and costs the nation up to $635 billion annually.
People with chronic pain are three times more likely to develop and than those without chronic pain.
Chronic pain is significantly more prevalent in women than men. ππ½
Exercise can reduce pain sensitivity by 60%.
If youβre not directly impacted by chronic pain, chances are you know someone who is. β€οΈ

As Summer comes to a close and we turn toward Autumn on the horizon, we're also thrilled to welcome Colleen Beyler as the newest member of our team! π
Colleen comes to us from Austin, TX and adds 6 years of experience to the team. Her touch is slow, deep and specific, combining effective, results-driven bodywork with kindness and compassion. She enjoys problem-solving and helping clients through injury and chronic pain. πͺ
We think she's awesome π, but we are, admittedly, just a little biased. π So don't just take our word for it...
"I have chronic pain in my neck and Iβve tried everything under the sun. In one session, she was able to get me pain-free! She worked on muscles Iβve never had any one else work on.
βββββ Chelsea J."
"Iβve seen more lasting improvement working with Colleen, than anyone else. She is super attentive to my needs and requests.
βββββ Amanda T."
