Big storm comin'
Hi hair friends!
I was looking forward to celebrating 20 years in the hair industry tomorrow at Day Trip but it looks like the weather has other plans. I'll probably reschedule something along with the 3rd year anniversary of The Haus of Jane salon when it warms up in April.
-If you're not familiar NCWX Authority (https://www.ncwxauthority.com) is a solid go to for local weather updates. There's also a little winter storm preparedness guide in the link attached.
-Organizations like Manna Foodbank, Bounty and Soul, and the YMCA all have no cost produce and food markets today if anyone needs to stock up before the storm.
I hope y'all stay safe and warm!
Your hairy godmother,
Madison Jane

It's my 20 year hair anniversary!!!
This month marks 20 years of being a licensed beauty pro. What a journey it’s been. From traveling all over the country and Canada to teach my hair knowledge, working multiple seasons of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC, LA Fashion Week, traveling overseas to style wedding hair. My work has been featured on runways, magazines, TV, billboards, books, and of course worn out in the world on all the wonderful beings from all walks of life. Now to have this sweet little home studio filled with all the dogs and the privilege to connect with each of you one on one is truly a highlight and one of my favorite experiences I hold so dear after all these years. It takes a lot of grit and tenacity to run a business, especially as a creative. There’s plenty of ups and downs and yet I couldn’t imagine having any other career. It’s so special to support my living by uplifting yours.
It would be so sweet to celebrate this milestone with y’all! I’d love to invite you to join me for a little gathering on January 24th at Day Trip (174 Broadway St, AVL) from 6pm till 8ish. If you haven’t been, it’s the cutest mid century styled bar with tasty beverages and on Saturdays the fine folks from Hail Mary cook up burgers (my fave in town) out back starting at 6pm. For you party animals: at 10pm there will be DJs, dancing and drag, and I cannot guarantee my social battery will make it that long. Hope to see you there!

Showbiz Happenings
Burlesque Brunch
Two years ago this month I inherited the role of producing Burlesque Brunch Asheville. Every 3rd Saturday I have the honor of showcasing some of the most fabulous performers from all around on The Grey Eagle stage. In a world that’s so incredibly spicy, burlesque is a true lifeline for so many. It’s a form of radical art that I hold the utmost respect for. A year ago I made the decision to transform the show into a showcase that celebrates performers of color. Currently too many shows don’t prioritize diversity when hiring artists, and it feels like a calling to change that. In 2025 I was able to hire 35 BIPOC performers to shine bright and bring our community joy through their performance art. It was so beautiful, necessary, joyous and healing.
Treat yourself to a Sunday Funday and please help share the word of how incredibly important it is to support performance art. Especially the spaces that can identify the cracks in our society and fill them with whimsy. Get your tickets here (https://www.thegreyeagle.com/event/burlesque-brunch-38/special-events-at-the-grey-eagle-music-hall/asheville-north-carolina/) .
Land of the Sky Burlesque Festival
Speaking of whimsy performance art spaces. I co-produce Land of the Sky Burlesque Fest which is coming up on its 5th year July 1-12th, 2026! We’re currently seeking sponsors to help raise $4,000 that supports ⅓ of our production overhead. There’s individual and business tiers available. Sound like something you or someone you know might be interested in? Please take a moment to check out our sponsor page (https://www.landoftheskyburlesque.com/tickets-1) and pass along the info to anyone you know who might want to support live performance art here in Asheville.
Silver Tusk Awards
Another way to support our festival is by voting for us in “The Best Place to Be” category in the Silver Tusk Awards which is a global celebration of burlesque, drag and nightlife. No worries if you’re not familiar other categories I believe you can leave sections blank. Voting ends tonight 1/13 at midnight.
My goal was to get this newsletter out sooner but alas here we are. Vote here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf7OzTgflEnZY1sgZbTy3bLxprDrjoSeEE-AQlnwX4vA_v-PQ/viewform) .
I appreciate the time you take to read this and all the wonderful ways you show up for me and The Haus of Jane.
Love,
Madison Jane

Salon Updates
With each of us facing a variety of economic challenges, pivoting this year to a tiered pricing system and monthly pay what you wish days has helped to align more with my values based in community care.
Huge time thank you to everyone who is able to offer the supporter rate during their visits. I’m excited to share that I received a small business grant from Mountain Bizworks. Because of these generous supports I’m stoked to say the tiered pricing and pay what you wish days will continue through 2026.
Price Tiers
$120/hr Community Rate
$150/hr Regular Rate
