Greta Thunberg’s family is artistic. Her mother, Malena Ernman, is a famous opera singer. Both her father, Svante Thunberg, and grandfather, Olof Thunberg , are actors. At the age of 8, Greta Thunberg first heard about the worldwide climate crisis. The tragedy of the situation made her depressed to the point of not eating for two months. She said in her Tedx Talk, “I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, OCD and selective mutism. That basically means I only speak when I think it's necessary. Now is one of those moments.”

Greta Thunberg made changes to reduce her personal carbon footprint by becoming a vegan and stop flying in airplanes. She even convinced her parents to make changes. Her mom gave up her international singing career to flying in planes. Her whole family is now vegan and practiced up-cycling. But Greta Thunberg wanted to make a greater impact.

“School Strike for Climate” on a hand painted sign outside of the Swedish Parliament on August 20, 2018, Greta Thunderg began her climate activism career. She skipped school everyday for three weeks during the general election to demand that Sweden lower its carbon emissions according to the Paris Agreement.

At first, her parents were not thrilled about the protests, but they realized it made her happy. After the elections, Greta Thundberg started “Friday’s for Future” protests. Her protests quickly became popular all over Europe. Soon, she was asked to speak at several events. In September 2019, she sailed by emission free yacht from Britain to New York to speak at the United Nations.

“You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words…We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”
Greta Thunberg is a disability and environment activist who is not afraid to speak when necessary. That is why she is spotlighted this week.

Ida B Wells Barnett was an investigative journalist, civil rights, and women's rights activist. She concentrated most of her work on antilynching. She spoke internationally about it. She was met with personal attacks and criticism, even from her fellow activist.

She did not give doing what she felt was right. She gave a voice to the voiceless and persevered through hardship. That is why she is in the spotlight of the week.

If you know a woman who should be spotlighted, DM me, and she might be featured.

Does hair that has shine or hair that has sheen healthy?

Both

Shine and sheen refer to how much light reflects off the hair. It has nothing to doing with the health of the hair.
