When we trust in God, fear vanishes giving rise to freedom.
"Fear Not"
A year ago I visited the beautiful city of Paris, France. Last week I returned to France to visit some dear friends, and I was saddened by all of the changes I saw in Paris. On street corners were police with guns, and the Eiffel Tower was fenced in with guards everywhere. There was a soccer game taking place so there was high security. I have friends who will not travel to London or other cities in Europe for fear of terrorist attacks. In addition the recent killings in Orlando, Brussels, and Paris, have provoked fear in many around the world.
In light of this, I have written a poem about not going to fear because with faith and trust in God the fear is removed. When we live in fear we are allowing our enemies to win and our greatest enemy, Satan, to win. When we trust in God, fear vanishes giving rise to freedom. This is freedom in Christ. When we have freedom in Christ, no one can really hurt us or provoke us to fear. Worst case we die, then we will be with our loving Savior. So fear not, my brothers and sisters.
Fear Not
When the rain and clouds hover and persist, fear not
When worry and anxiety hold you captive, fear not
When your trust and belief waver, fear not
When you wonder if you can keep on breathing, fear not
When all those around you have lost control, fear not
When you find yourself in a bottomless abyss, fear not
When your trials and tribulations are never ceasing, fear not
When you keep trying, but seem to always fail, fear not
When life seems hopeless with no promise, fear not
When all reason and logic don't give an answer, fear not
When life seems forever against you, fear not
When faulty thoughts overtake your mind, fear not
When you are approaching and facing death's door, fear not
When you don't know if you can make it another day, fear not
When the darkness of depression does not lift, fear not
When the oppression and abuse are too much to bear, fear not
When hurt leaves your heart in pieces, fear not
When loss and grief cause you endless pain, fear not
Since God is always with us, fear not
Since in God we trust, fear not
Since without fear, there is freedom, fear not
Since our freedom is in Christ, fear not....

Red Cardinals are special birds representing God's love and comfort.
"Afterlife Kisses: The Red Bird"
Red Cardinals are special birds representing God's love and comfort. They also represent Christ's blood as they were named after the Cardinals in the Catholic Church who wear red as the symbol of Christ's blood. My son, Whitner, died on Palm Sunday 2011. I was sent a Red Cardinal a few days after his death when I boldly asked God for a sign that my son was with Him. The red bird lit next to me. Since that time my yard has been an infestation of cardinals--that would be my son drawing all the attention...lol! They always show up when I need comfort, affirmation or love. Their call is very distinct so even if I don't see them I know they are with me as I know my invisible God is always with me. So if my Whitner is with God, and God is always with me then my son is always with me. Such a blessing and affirmation to know God often sends the Red Cardinal to give love and comfort to others, too. The red bird is a healing presence from God and our loved ones.

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen,
since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:18
"A lifetime can be held in a moment; it is a small matter in Heaven."
After my son died, I had what I term a "visitation" in my dream. This has only happened once, much to my chagrin. In my dream I knew Whitner was dead and that he was coming for a short visit. He was sitting with our family in the dining room. I announced that Whitner had come for a visit and remarked how wonderful he looked. But, I added, you know he is dead. When he was getting ready to leave I hugged and kissed him. I told him I could do this if he would come and visit me in my dreams so I could touch and feel him. It was time for him to go back to Heaven. He was walking away when I ran after him because I had forgotten to ask him a question. When I caught up to him, I asked if he knew when I was going to die. He looked at me with this incredulous look like he couldn't believe I was asking such a silly and unimportant question. He said, "Mom, it doesn't matter." I hugged and kissed him once again, and he continued his journey back up to Heaven. After this I awoke to find myself soaked in tears. I had experienced something that had touched my soul deeply causing my eyes to flood with tears.
I began to contemplate my experience and what his answer meant. It was actually quite profound. In Heaven there is no time or space. So when we are reunited with our loved ones it will seem like only a moment has passed, like they had just seen us. Since we will also be in Heaven, it will seem the same for us. For us humans trapped in time and space, it can seem like an eternity on earth. When we get to Heaven, a short or long lifetime will all look the same, a moment passed. The quote from Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" by White Rabbit makes perfect sense from this perspective. Alice asks, "How long is forever?" White Rabbit responds, "Sometimes just one second." A lifetime can be held in just one second, as a baby might only take one breath then succumb, but really all of our lifetimes will seem like a passing moment once we enter Heaven.
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen,
since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:18
