Her hair really is just mesmerizing đ Silk press by me of course đĽ°
See my previous post for the secret to how I make Swiss lace look just as good as HD⌠My client flew all the way from Virginia to make sure her hair was slayed right for her birthday this weekend đŠľ
If youâve ever wondered how I get my lace to blend so seamlessly even when itâs not HD, this is one of my biggest secrets đâ¨
I donât use tinted lace sprays because one shade is rarely a perfect match. Sometimes theyâre too dark, sometimes theyâre too light. Instead, I use my trusted Ben Nye Foundation Palette so I can custom mix colors and create the perfect skin tone match for each client.
Iâve been using this same palette since 2016! If youâve ever sat in my chair or taken a one-on-one class with me, youâve probably seen me pull it out countless times đ
Youâll also notice the rubber band around my makeup brush. Thatâs another little trick I use to make the bristles denser for a more controlled application. I lightly tap the makeup into the lace, always starting with less product and building if needed. Itâs much easier to add color than it is to take it away.
No gatekeeping over here đ¤ If youâve been wondering how I get such natural-looking lace blends, this is definitely one of the techniques behind it.
Letâs get started on my hair right now chile!
I can obviously sign more than the alphabet but I thought this was cute! If you didnât know now u know! Iâm very fluent in ASL because I was blessed to born to 2 deaf parents đŤśđ˝đ¤đ˝So if youâre deaf and come get your hair done baby girl we can talk the whole time bookie lol!
One thing Iâve learned in this industry is that being talented isnât enough by itself. The stylists who grow the fastest are usually the ones willing to listen, learn, and take advice.Especially from people whoâve already been where theyâre trying to go.
As a new stylist, guidance from an older or more experienced stylist can save you years of mistakes, setbacks, and frustration. And honestly, even established stylists still benefit from advice. Nobody knows everything in this industry.
Sometimes people ask for advice, then ignore it because itâs not what they wanted to hear. But if youâre trying to get where someone already is, their experience should mean something to you. You donât have to agree with everything, but being open to learning will take you further than ego ever will.
1. It traps heat + sweat against the scalp
A stocking cap creates an extra barrier that doesnât breathe well.
What happens:
â˘Sweat gets trapped
â˘Scalp stays damp longer
â˘It can create itching, odor, irritation, or even fungal buildup
2. Moisture canât properly reach the scalp
Many clients need scalp hydration during installs.
With a stocking cap:
â˘oils sit on top
â˘scalp treatments donât absorb as well
â˘buildup gets trapped underneath
3.Some caps snag or dry out the hair
Cheap nylon caps especially can create friction.
Instead of protecting the hair, they:
â˘rough up the cuticle
â˘pull tiny hairs
4. It can hide scalp problems
Without direct visibility/access, issues go unnoticed:
â˘flaking
â˘redness
â˘sores
â˘tension bumps
â˘mildew smell
â˘excessive shedding
A stocking cap under a sew in can sometimes trap heat, moisture, and tension against the scalp. I prefer more breathable foundations that allow better scalp access and help reduce unnecessary stress on the hair underneath. Flat doesnât always mean healthier. I focus on keeping the install lightweight, breathable, and safe for the hair long term.
I love my lil babies tho lol! But yall please bring ya phone up eye level before I have to ban phones from the chair đ¤ŁđĽ´
My beautiful client has had alopecia for a while now and sheâs always wanted braids but tired of having to have a wig to do it. I suggested that she try a frontal in the front and it turned out GREAT! Shout out to my tag team partner .cain for doing the miracle knots after I installed her frontal! Yall can see she LOVES her hair!!! đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°
