I realized how important reviews are to small businesses success & growth and it comes from our customers but, as I was looking at the number of sales, on both my shop & other good shops, compared to how many people actually leave reviews. Wow! So many never leave reviews, unless they are unhappy. This seems wrong on a few levels. Of course people have the right to leave truthful reviews, happy or not, but think about how small businesses stay in business simply by happy customers leaving good reviews. This tells other people it's a positive experience & hey, shop here! All I'm saying is if you want your favorite small business to stay in business for you, leave a review. Otherwise they may be forced to close. I've seen this happen to a few of my fellow sellers that had great shops, and now they are closed.

I am so disheartened by people lately. Specifically mean & unreasonable people that have no compassion or care for other human beings. So almost 10 years on etsy and I have never experienced so many obviously unhappy people that choose to take it out on others. I am seriously thinking of leaving Etsy, for this reason and no support for sellers by etsy at all. I opened my shop to try to help people and they only care about the bottom line, even though there would be nothing without us sellers/makers. I have had my star seller status for years and now I dont, mainly due to 2 customers. Each product can get a counted review. First miserable lady bought 3 lotions, all 3 were essential oil formulas, she said they smelled like chemicals but I assured her they were EOs. She opened a case, and won! I was shocked, and had to not only give her money back and pay her shipping, she also got to keep the lotions. Plus, on top of that she gave me 3 one star reviews with lies, there was nothing I could do about it. There are so many liars that do this, they complain, saying anything they want just to get the money back. Second lady just today, she messaged me very short and rudely saying "I was expecting my order on the 5th, I want a refund", I told her her tracking said it was delivered on the 6th and that I can't help how long carriers take after it leaves me. She comes back with "yes you can, ship it out the day after I order" then proceed to give me 2 one star reviews nastily. Shampoos take 3 days to process & I go in the order received. I am growing weary of selling on Etsy due to these type of people. Mean, unreasonable and dishonest. What is wrong with people these days? Try kindness & empathy!
I will be closing, selling directly to my regulars I've had for years and am working on my own website. You would think with Etsy taking as much as they do in fees they would support their sellers, but they do not!
