This Thursday, I had the privilege of spending my morning and half of my day with HOSEA HELPS serving the forgotten ones. We packed and loaded boxes with bags of food, ppe etc. and started out in vans, cars, small buses to find as many homeless areas as we could. This city (Atlanta)has so many homeless areas that I never knew. Into the woods on the side of the highway, under bridges we saw tents set up for shelter. As soon as we called out to let them know who we were, they were comfortable to see us. This organization has spent over 50 years helping our community. And I’m always grateful for the opportunity to serve with them. The official annual Thanksgiving event was held early this year and was a Drive Through event to ensure safety precautions. But, Hosea Helps knew there would be those forgotten still in need. I’m so grateful to have had that opportunity to further serve. It was heartbreaking and enlightening all at the same time. My heart broke every time we reached another site. We were also joined by Former Atlanta City Council President Felicia Moore. I had never met her nor, to be honest, knew much about her. But, watching her that day was inspiring. I ended my day being surrounded by beautiful friends and stuffing myself. Smh. My heart and my stomach were full. I just wanted to share this amazing opportunity and organization for those that don’t know about them. We should always be grateful for all that we have and all that we are. Not just one day…but, everyday.
