Try the CU Anschutz and University of Wisconsin Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency Match Predictor at https://medschool.cuanschutz.edu/surgery/divisions-centers-affiliates/plastic-and-reconstructive/plastic-surgery-residency-match-predictor

The plastic surgery residency match process is a complex career decision influenced by many indicators, including academic metrics, research productivity and personal career goals. The limited availability of positions combined with the quality of the applicant pool makes it one of the most competitive specialties in the National Resident Matching Program (N**P).

The plastic surgery divisions at CU Anschutz and the University of Wisconsin are co-piloting a structured, data-driven decision aid tool for the plastic surgery match aimed at reducing decisional conflict and improving alignment between applicant qualifications and their application strategy.

Our web-based decision aid tool is evidence-based and adaptable to various applicant backgrounds. Guided by the Ottawa Decision Support Framework standards, the decision aid tool aims to provide real-time match probability and individualized advising for students and program directors to identify potential areas for improvement and to optimize match likelihood in plastic surgery residency match.

Several of our plastic surgery team members and residents recently traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam, to partner with the medical team at Viet Duc University Hospital to provide resources, education, and side-by-side support to local surgeons.

Katie Egan, MD, provided specialized instruments and microsurgery techniques, Mark Greyson, MD, performed surgery on primarily congenital injuries to the hand and lower extremities and surgical residents Taylor Allenby, MD, Ariel Johnson, MD, and Ton Doan, MD, worked with Vietnamese patients as part of their resident training.
