I don't normally use kettlebells with my workouts, but this guy really hypes them up in this video. The exercises look fairly intense, but highly effective as a finishing workout, to burn fat and any remaining "fuel in your tank."

Happy Tuesday all! I hope everyone is sticking to their fitness goals. If not, let me know and I will see if I can help.

Here is a video I shot from my workout this morning, which might bring you some motivation.

FYI, I’ve switched to a mass building program, so I’m going a little heavier than usual.

Here was my workout for chest today:
Flat bench dumbbells - 4 sets of 8-10 reps
Cable flys - 4 sets of 10-12 reps
Hex press dumbbells - 4 sets of 8-10 reps
Dips - 4 sets to failure

Achieving Fitness Goals Tip #1

We've all heard about (or may have even been part of) the New Year Resolution hype of getting fit for the new year. It usually goes well for a few weeks or months, but eventually a lot of people end up giving up before reaching their fitness goal of getting into shape.

So, here is a step-by-step guide to help achieve and maintain focus on reaching your fitness goal:

1. Get a pen and paper
2. Write down your ultimate fitness goal at the top of your paper and give yourself a reasonable timeframe to achieve it. For example, I want to lose 20 pounds in 6 months.
3. Now cut that goal in half and write down the specific day you will achieve half of your ultimate goal. Using the previous example, you could write "Lose 10 pounds by August 10th" (3 months from today).
4. Repeat the above step to set another date with a goal that is half that of the previous one.
5. Get out your calendar on your smart phone, mark all 3 of the above fitness goals on each specific day, and set a reminder for each event.
6. Take your first/smallest goal, screenshot it, and make it the background image for your phone. This way you will be reminded of it every time you look at your phone.
7. As you achieve each smaller goal repeat Step 6 to give yourself a daily reminder about your upcoming goal.

It's super easy to tell ourselves that we want to get in shape, but writing down your goals and making them easily visible to you on a daily basis can help you maintain focus on achieving those goals, and also provide accountability.

Also, this method can apply to other things besides getting in shape. So, feel free to use it for other things like setting a goal for reading a new book, or simply providing visual affirmation of improving your personal development with motivational quotes.

Anyone else do their Saturday Squats today?

I remember back in high school attempting to squat this weight (315 lbs/142 kg) once...once! I squatted the weight down, but could not push myself back up. I ended up dropping the bar behind me, so I wouldn’t get squashed! 😬
