There is a strong body of research to support the claim that flaxseed helps with estrogen dominance. But what is estrogen dominance?
Symptoms of estrogen dominance include:
* Irregular periods
* Heavy flows
* Terrible PMS (bloating, moods, pain, energy, headaches)
* Fibroids
* Endometriosis
* Breast lumps
* Thyroid Nodules
* Fibrocystic and painful breasts
* Low thyroid
* Hair loss and brittle hair
* Weight gain around the hip and thighs
* Water retention
* Cellulite
Most women with estrogen dominance do not suffer because of too much estrogen, but because they are not breaking down and evacuating this estrogen well enough. Flaxseed can help shift estrogen metabolism from the “dirty” estrogen in the direction of the “clean” one. Xenoestrogens which are synthetic estrogens that mimic estrogen without doing the right work should be avoided as much as possible. They are found in all commercial skin care products, perfumes, and cleaning products.
Women consuming 10g of flaxseed per day can experience benefits like longer menstrual cycle length, increased progesterone-to-estrogen ratios, and fewer anovulatory cycles, all of which are considered to reflect improved ovarian function.
Besides balancing the hormones, flaxseeds can also act as a preventative measure against estrogenic cancers like ER+ breast, uterine, ovarian, thyroid, and lung cancers in non-smokers.
How to buy and store flaxseed.
Whole flaxseeds:
* Flaxseeds can be purchased whole or pre-ground. Whole flaxseeds can be stored in the freezer and ground weekly.
* Whole flax seeds will last longer than pre-ground flax.
* Grind small amounts of whole flaxseeds in a coffee-type grinder and store in an airtight container in your refrigerator.
Ground flaxseeds:
* Ground flaxseeds are more prone to oxidation.
* Purchase in vacuum-sealed or refrigerated bags and store in an airtight glass container in your freezer.
Easy ways to boost flax intake.
* Sprinkle ground flax on hot or cold cereal.
* Add ground flax to smoothies.
* Sprinkle ground flax inside your sandwiches
* Sprinkle in soups
* Add to your yogurt bowls

🍉 A study published in 2022 in the British Journal of Nutrition stated that regular fruit consumption can improve your mental health. With demographic and lifestyle factors taken into account, those who ate fruit more often had lower levels of depression. The frequency of eating fruit turned out to be more important than the total amount consumed. A potential way by which frequent fruit consumption may lead to lower levels of depression is by decreasing inflammation. 🍎 Fruits contain high levels of phytochemicals such as carotenoid and flavonoids and antioxidants like Vitamin C that act as anti-inflammatories. 🍌

😃 That cozy feeling of comfort, pleasure, and euphoria that you can experience when you are surrounded by things you like come from the brain chemicals that transmit enjoyment and contentment and are called endorphins. If you are blessed with high levels of these naturally comforting substances that are more powerful than morphine or he**in, you take great pleasure in life. Many things delight you. Even when painful things happen, you recover well, without too many emotional scars or prolonged suffering. Endorphins light that special smile on your face when you think about pleasant things like chocolate, a movie, a book, a dress or beautiful places you have been to or dream of going or people you like and love. Massages and baths feel heavenly because the nerves in the skin can trigger a release of endorphins. Many different foods can raise endorphin levels, too.
But if you find it hard to locate enough natural enjoyment or comfort in your life and that even major treats give you only brief or dim pleasure, you may be endorphin deficient. You could be one of many people who were born with low endorphin levels or have run low coping with too much of life’s pain. Continue reading on my website - link in bio.

🛋️ Lazying on the couch is good for your health.
Different types of tiredness need different kinds of rest. Sometimes a hike in the mountains will help you recharge, and sometimes recovery means putting your feet up.
When is it doing nothing especially important, and why?
When you're physically tired or your nervous system is overloaded. If you spent your whole week doing errands, socializing, not sleeping, feeling sick, or exercising, a quiet weekend on the couch is just what you need.
Passive rest engages your parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for recovery. This system works as a counterweight to your sympathetic nervous system, which is more engaged when your body needs to gather up its strength and act.
🧠 When your parasympathetic system is activated, your brain releases the inhibitory
neurotransmitter acetylcholine, receptors slow down, and heart rate and blood pressure drop.
It's similar to a computer being rebooted, except in this case it's your body that's being restarted.
📺 Next time you want to scold yourself for lying on the couch watching Netflix, remember that you're giving your body what it needs. You're actually recovering in parasympathetic mode.
Is lying on the couch the only kind of passive rest?
No, you can enter parasympathetic mode while you sleep, meditate, take a bath, during a massage, or do any activity where you don't have to worry, hurry, or make a million decisions. Most importantly, your body needs to trust and feel that it won't be forced to go anywhere, and it can just relax.
The parasympathetic system is activated when your body has the physical sensations of security and comfort.
