My hair is a measuring stick. When COVID arrived I had a pixie cut, and now it’s halfway to my waist. Maybe it’s a metaphoric security blanket. Maybe when I’m finished measuring this time, I’ll chop it off and begin a new calendar. Maybe I’ll grow it to my feet, and let it drag the earth behind me.

When I first brought on Phorest Salon Software] I thought, I want to receive a Phorest Client Experience Award, and WE DID!!!! In order to receive this recognition a salon must maintain a 4-5 star review status, and receive at least 60 reviews per 12 month cycle. We are non toxic, inclusive, boutique salon in East Austin looking for a person to help with scheduling appointments, inventory and ordering, light marketing/social media. All candidates must have strong communication skills, as you will many times be the first and last impression of our brand. Salon experience preferred but not required.

The first haircut I ever gave was to my mom, in her bathroom, with a pair of kitchen scissors, when I was 14. The outcome was... special. Fast forward to now after 10 years of professional hairstyling experience, and I have honed my skills by working with hundreds of beautiful people, in some of the area’s best salons, using actual hair-cutting shears and the best hair technology and products available.

As a former Kevin Murphy educator, I participated in hair shows from Prague and Las Vegas, and I worked styling models’ hair at Miami Swim Week for two years in a row. I find great inspiration in my travels, whether it be training in the latest styling techniques in Los Angeles, or exploring local trends in urban centers from London to Barcelona to Mexico City. My latest adventure was working with international clients at an Aveda Concept Salon on the island of Curaçao in the Caribbean.

I tend to gravitate towards creating lived-in, dimensional color, long layered cuts, pixies, and tailored fringes. I love offering an experience to my clients that connects your vision to my ability to achieve it.

Hey friends!!! We will still be requiring masks at Nova Hair Collective. This is nonnegotiable. Anyone wishing to not comply is subject to a blindfolded flowbee haircut. So, just wear ‘em.

I knew we were in for a storm, but I have to say, I was pretty surprised when I woke up!!! I’m sad to hear so many people are and have been without power. Look out for your neighbors, stay home and off the streets if you can! Sending love and warmth to everyone. ❤️❤️

Sometimes I express ideas that are hard for some audiences to understand. I sign, XOXO because I love the audience, I make paintings for. I dedicate my affection to those that inspire my paintings.

My initials are “AMM.” AMMO is for my father who taught me how to hunt. Ammunition for my mother who gave me a strong first name.

I am AMMO. I was born in brush country on Gloria Anzaldua’s border. It’s her “el cenote” that I paint in trances. I am a “border artist” because I grew up in the borderlands of South Texas and because my paintings take the border and boundaries as their subject. My paintings are a protest to the injustice of violence and militarization of the US/Mexican border.

Today, the U.S.-Mexico border is constantly being misrepresented as a place of danger and violence. But to me the borderlands are home. It’s a place of humanity, solidarity, and compassion. Through painting, drawing, video and performance I invite people to contemplate the beauty that exists in a land where people negotiate their place, where people thrive and struggle, and where people resist the idea of unjust borders.”
