One Cherry Cola please 🍒 I used Redken Shades ALK to create this Red-Violet color to give us that punch and to keep it from browning out!

No more Sun-In orange band!! You heard me right: sun-in 🫣 Have you ever wondered why hairstylist recommend avoiding sun-in?? This is why:
First, most people aren’t left with bright blonde hair - they are left with brassy & uneven bands! It exposes the underlying pigment of the hair which for most people is orange & red.
Second, it uses hydrogen peroxide to lighten the hair which can cause dryness, damage, & all around be unpredictable as a product. Especially if it needs to be corrected in the salon, the results can be unpredictable.
Are you wondering how I was able to safely lighten her hair despite this sun-in mishap? First, I know her hair since she is a returning client, so I know her hair history, how it lifts, & the condition. Second, we weren’t expecting a miracle - just shorting for brighter & more blended. Finally, we used a super gentle lightener and low developer (Blonde IQ 7 + 10 volume) that we checked periodically and rinsed as soon as it was ready to not over process.
This is a judgement free zone, so have you ever used sun-in? how did it go?
May or may not be based on today’s events 😅

Spot the hair extensions Level: impossible 🎮
Transitioning her from 2 rows down to 1 row of extensions. First, she really didn’t NEED 2 rows - she just wanted extra fullness for a little bit (because who doesn’t love having more hair to throw around). Second, we are in the Texas pre-heat so she didn’t want to do with a lot of hair AND 107 degrees outside.
Now she has more fullness and can focus on growing out her natural hair around her face, but also not be drowning in hair during the Austin Summer 🔆

Does your hair feel stuck at one length? But then you have roots coming in so you know that can’t be true? So why isn’t it getting any longer???
The truth is that your hair is ALWAYS growing- it just isn’t getting any longer because the ends are breaking at the same rate (or faster) than it can grow out of your head.
This breakage is caused by any number of the usual suspects (heat, chemicals, products, etc.), and the solution is everyone’s worst fear… a haircut 🫣 I know! I know! But listen to the science: if you just trim the dead off, it doesn’t have a chance to continue to split up the hair shaft. It will only split so much before it breaks off, and odds are it will break higher than where you would have cut it.
Basically, you can either control where it comes off and get regular trims or let it break off wherever it pleases higher up. I am also not talking anything crazy. I recommend getting it trimmed atleast once a quarter!
As mentioned in the post, there are products & tips you can do/use to majorly help your hair growth- just use those along with regular trims (not as a replacement)!
Did you know that this is why your hair seems to be stuck at one length??
