Sometimes you just get lucky with wildlife photography. We loved this visit to Assateague Island on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Shrink your lawn and plant native flowers, shrubs, and trees is the message from America's famous entomologist Doug Tallamy. Since I shrunk my lawn and planted dozens of native flowers the increase in pollinators has increased my vegetable garden yield and turned my backyard into a pollinator and wild bird paradise.
I'm happy to help any of my neighbors do the same in small or large backyards. Free of charge!

While on my morning dog walk I couldn't resist snapping a photo of this awesome sunrise. Even though it was a chilly 20 degrees, it was worth getting cold hands.
When I returned home I had a light breakfast of warmed applesauce made from Gold Rush apples from Barnard's Farm near Kennett Square, PA. Thanks to their owner, Lewis Barnard I've learned which apples make the best applesauce and the Gold Rush apples might be my new favorite. Who knows, someday I might post a recipe for applesauce so you can enjoy the flavors of this homemade treat.

Is anyone out there, said many a blogger on Facebook and other social media. With 1.2K followers and no posts for 7 years I wonder if anyone will respond to this post. I'm still out there and loving the life of a freelance food and travel writer. The last four years have seen me at more small farms and wineries in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Farming is a tough business and I'm passionate about getting the word out on some of the amazing farms I've visited.
The story I published on Wanderwithwonder told of several small farms worth visiting. I beleive we all have much to gain by visiting small farms, whether they produce meat, produce, flowers, or just plain fun. Check this one out and please, support your local small farmers. https://www.wanderwithwonder.com/mid-atlantic-farm-visits/

Want to have a great vacation in Spain? Start it out by volunteering at a language course where you get free room and board, in a nice hotel or resort, and just have to converse in English for several hours per day with fun and interesting Spaniards. Here is one of the operators I follow in consideration of my next trip to Spain. The last time I did it I had a blast!

Still alive and well. Had a great trip to Japan exploring food and culture. Next trip is to Vegas and they have some of the best dining options in the country.

This was one of my favorite wall murals in Montreal. Love the Staypuff marshmallow man in the upper right. What a fun city to walk around with camera in hand. Kind of like food for the eyes.

Montreal is a city of many cultures and it is represented well in the restaurants. We ate at a French, Portuguese, local types and more on our 3 days there. One of our favorites was Pause et Vous, (take a break) where we had unique crepes made with buckwheat flour and filled with stuff like, scallops and asparagus, or shrimp and spinach and many more choices. It was a cute little hole in the wall on Mont Royal blvd and at $40 USD for the 3 of us was a bargain as well as delicious. That included drinks too!
My favorite spot was Julliet, a dessert and chocolate restaurant where I had a raspberry and vanilla sundae with a side of raspberry coulis that was one of the best desserts I've had anywhere. My wife shared a banana waffle with our friend Ruby. I got to taste it and it was amazing as well.
What a great first visit to this historic city with a thriving arts and food scene. I hope to return some day in the future and continue the exploring.
