There is a turning that’s happening in the industry.

A gap that started a great divide.

But it isn’t the stylists who are charging $500+ who feel it.

No, it’s the ones who are trying to be ‘middle of the road’ in their prices thinking that it’s going to give you the best of both worlds.

But what I know to be true, the clients in the middle are the hardest to please.

So how do you fix this?

The hate that you see everywhere?

Contradictory to what I said in this little black and white… our industry needs to do two things:

First, tell your client the damn price for the service before you start.

If you feel weird quoting people for their goal, you need to get over it.

Because an unexpected price bomb at the end will p**s anyone off.

Second, you have to stop acting like your career is a hobby.

They want to deregulate our industry for good reason.

No one takes us seriously because hardly any of us take ourselves seriously.

Discounting out of pressure, and most of it is pressure you put on yourself. Not what the client places on you.

Acting like hair is *fun* is great…

…but if you have no idea how to run a business? Then that fun is sucked out really quickly by the reality straw.

So we have an industry filled with stylists (and beauty professionals in general), who don’t know how to talk about money.

Feel uncomfortable price quoting.

Have no idea how to run a successful business that actually operates like one.

And have an insanely hard time saying no.

So truthfully… the fix isn’t just price transparency.

The fix has to happen within yourself.

You’ve got to fix the people pleasing, because it actually isn’t pleasing anyone.

Just shows you’re a welcome doormat.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

And as a recovering people pleaser, I can 100% say it’s pretty awesome when you get there too.

And you can get there.

🔴 On your own, it just takes more time, discipline and a lot more determination. It’s extremely hard.

🌕 Doing it with someone? You’re more likely to make the change.

🟢 But it’s easier when you join a cohort lead by a mentor who will do it with you.

Comment “SOLO” if you’re ready for easier.

It took me 3 years of practice to master balayage.

When I started, “clay lightener” wasn’t widely used.

You grabbed normal foil lightener and tried to figure out how to apply

Getting a smooth application was a level 10 difficulty.

Adding a splash of liquid 150vol to get more lift was a normal occurrence.

And the handful of “hair influencers” kept their techniques under wraps like they held the secrets to entering Heaven.

Now?

We know that there are many hands in the wild 10 second transformations you can see all over.

Almost all the hairstylists you see thinks they should be educators.

Just because they are good at hair. Even when they don’t know how to teach.

(80% of the educators out there shouldn’t be teaching)

And any type of lived-in color application is called balayage—even when it’s not.

As for me?

I think every single stylist who calls themselves a “Lived-in Color Specialist” should master true hand painted balayage.

And master it on all different hair textures.

Otherwise, how can you say you’re a master?

There is a place for foil work, just like there is a place for balayage.

And if you want to learn my techniques, like Internal Diamond, Split Frame Money and Layered Cake Balayage…I’d love to teach them to you.

Just comment “INNER CIRCLE” and I’ll tell you more ❤️

1. Have “A La Carte” services

Everything is bundled together because that helps for ☝🏼 price transparency and 2️⃣ result consistency.

2. Price quote your clients “per service”

HELL NO. The price I give is for the GOAL and what is achievable during that session. Not by listing everything out line by line.

3. Have services with “general names”

You couldn’t catch me using terms like “Partial” or “Full” in my service names.

Every client under the sun knows that terminology.

It sets their expectations as to what you will be doing before they even sit in your chair—limiting your creative freedom.

4. Charge less for “certain things,” like base touchups

NO. Every service is priced to ensure that my pay is CONSISTENT.

Would it be fun showing up to an appointment where you’re taking a pay cut? No. It wouldn’t.

5. Just do “what’s on the books”

I upsell every single client based on their past retail purchases, appointment history, and time of the year.

It’s how I add an extra $600+ to my days without seeing more clients OR raising my prices.

With a 96% retention rate.

Because this system works so well, it will level up your client experience too.

✅ And I’m going to teach all of this inside my community, She Owns Solo

The doors open May 31, but only for hairstylists and beauty pros who don’t want to make average money.

This is *invite only* 💌

Undercharging is a chronic disease in the hair industry.

I think I’ve noticed it more so on TikTok than any other platform, but it’s here too.

People with a loud mouth and no shame talk badly about hairstylists charging… anything.

I’ve taught 57,126 stylists since 2026, and there are two very prominent struggles.

I’d even consider them debilitating.

👉🏼 Confidence
👉🏼 + Self doubt

It sneaks into almost every area of your business too.

How fast you foil.

Your price increase.

The picture you really want to post.

I could go on and on about all the different ways self doubt kills your confidence and in turn—your income

But this is really about undercharging as a result of those two things.

You need to inject yourself with a little bit of this if you really want to rid yourself of the disease ⬇️

💉It’s business, it’s not personal
💉No apologies

That’s when you can show up, charge your value, and then go home and *actually* sleep through the night.

When ‘no worries’ becomes a real thing.

I’m the: 💉

And this is me telling you that it is time to get that nice little 🍑 in gear because you need to make real changes if you want to LIVE LONG AND PROSPER 🖖 in this industry.

In this game we call life, it’s time for you to play the board.

I’ll give you that winning strategy.

Just follow along because I’ve got more coming 💪

Now if you KNOW that you need to make those changes… I want you to start with an affirmation in the comments

(This is something I do inside my community and it works so well)

Drop a “ME” in the comments if 2026 is the year you build your confidence and 🔪 that self doubt.

That affirmation is the start.

We’ll continue it in my next post 🫵🏼

The amount of shameless people out there that show up as soon as you do/have something they want… interesting tbh

If you know someone looking for more peace and quiet… I’m listing my home 1 hour from Austin, Texas 📍

10 acres with an additional 20 available 🌅

It will be available on May 29, but we will be offering private showings between now and then!

Tag a friend who’s wanting a taste of country but still be close-ish to ATX ♥️

Time is MONEY for hairstylists and you need to be as efficient as possible in every single service so you can maximize it ✅

The day I stopped discounting because someone was a “friend” was the day I started actually valuing myself.

Never looked back, and guess what?

The real ones never asked for discounts in the first place ♥️

Fact for hairstylists who over foil:

👉🏼 packing the head full of foils doesn’t mean you’re going to get good results.

But it does waste your time (and you’ll lose money)

✔️ I use 30 foils or less for 90% of my clients
✔️ application timing is 45min on average
✔️ I get incredible results consistently

This is because I created a method that is repeatable for every single client, hair color, texture and length.

✅ The HIA Method™️

The doors to Lumiere University are opening soon! This is where I teach Hairstylists how to save time, get better results and attract more clients ✨

Comment “UNIVERSITY” and I’ll send you an exclusive invite when the doors open
