Selective neurolysis is a procedure where Dr. Hetzler identifies 20-30 small branches of the facial nerve, then selectively cuts them to reduce the effects of facial synkinesis. Patients will still need Botox but their requirement should be much less. Our multidisciplinary team approaches each patient individually for a personal plan which may or may not include surgery. Strong representation by the entire team at . Dr. Hetzler served as Natl Course Director, spoke on practice building and led a nerve repair course. Dr Ovaitt spoke on innovative approaches to facial defect repair because we all know our patients present individual clinical scenarios that don’t fit into a textbook. And the entire team moderated sessions to foster discussion among attendees to maximize collaboration and education!!!

The glorious ladies of were on a roll this weekend! They had a busy national meeting for the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery with the highlight reel being Dr Morris as meeting chair and Dr Hetzler inviting one of our amazing patients for a live demonstration on synkinesis management with other 💥GREATS💥in the field. Invitations to the national stage are an honor for us and we love to share our expertise with others in the facial plastics community.

Dr Ovaitt was invited to give talks on her deep plane facelift technique and rhinoplasty at two national meetings this summer. So many of our patients think that because we do incredibly complex work, that we don’t do the healthy side of facial plastics as well. We do!!

Dr. Morris and Dr. Hetzler had the privilege of taking care of an infant with a very rare cleft combination. This sweet baby had a fairly difficult, bilateral cleft lip and palate, as well as a superimposed, very rare, atypical facial cleft. Given the complexity of the pathology and the uniqueness of the presentation, our team pulled the power of both brains, a collective 25 years of faculty experience, three fellowships between them, to invest in the best outcome for this sweet child. This is not unusual for us. We believe in the setting of complex, tertiary level care, our patients deserve the best of us. Often that means that the whole team will stand up.

We are so thankful that our sweet patient allowed us to share her results from just one treatment with Sciton Halo technology. Don’t get us wrong, we love BBL as much as everyone else.
