2023 was an amazing year for Junior Cosmetology. What started in 2016 as the inception of an idea that God placed on my heart, evolved into a fully operational program, complete with every component needed to provide a unique opportunity for young people. Junior Cosmetology - name and full content - is original, meaning there never existed an organization with its name in the state of Louisiana, prior to now, and that the intricate details composing this particular program are not duplicated. I am both proud and humbled by these facts. I was blessed and chosen to initiate this innovative experience and stand somewhat in awe of what can be accomplished with tenacity, determination, hard work, support and faith. Stepping out onto a clean slate, using my own original ideas that resulted into what is now "Junior Cosmetology" is a journey that can never be taken from me.
This experience will be used to press forward to open new doors that lie ahead and to hopefully inspire those around me to believe that their dreams, too, can come true. There were many valuable lessons learned along the way such as the power of believing in oneself and not giving up when faced with what seem to be insurmountable obstacles. Other lessons learned about ventures such as this one is the importance of protecting your interest. As a pioneer of an initiative, it is important to legally protect the name and content of the initiative to avoid having them stolen. The reality of attaining success is that there will be those who offer genuine support and who celebrate with you, and there will be those who do not. There will be opportunists who are seeking to "ride your coattails" of success by stealing, copying and duplicating efforts. Following legal business action steps will ensure the necessary protection. These lessons and so much more will be infused into the full and ROBUST program offerings of Junior Cosmetology as we prepare the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs of the world.

I been working so hard to make Junior Cosmetology everything I know it will be and it’s harder than I could have imagined. Running a hair business and a non profit has been very hard along with blood sweat and tears, but one thing I know God has never failed me.
