Hi 👋 I’m Dr. Leah, SHE-E-O of Faces by Leah Microblading + Makeup and AAURA Salon & Spa Suites 💕

This is my story👇

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, I’ve ALWAYS been an artist. I was the girl constantly drawing and painting in school. Back then, I never imagined it could become a real career.

I graduated from LSU in 2007, immediately moving to Mississippi to begin my career as a journalist. I loved storytelling, but the reality was my salary barely covered “adulting.” So like any true elder millennial, when times get tough, you start a side hustle.

Enter MAC Cosmetics 🖤

The mid-2000s were the glory days at MAC. The bright colors! The outrageous fashion! It was a vibe! I fell in love with makeup and made the decision to trade my pen for a brush. In 2010, I moved back home. Now working at the MAC store in the Mall of LA, I held every role in the store, eventually becoming a company executive leading an entire MAC territory across three states.

Then COVID hit 😔

I was laid off after 13 years. I remember how real it all felt when I had to turn in my company car.

Then I sold my house and downsized in a state of overwhelm. I bled my 401k trying to survive. Now in my late 30s, I quietly wondered if I had lost my direction. But in all of that chaos, I knew I wanted to build something of my own.

In 2021, I took my first permanent makeup course and shortly thereafter, I opened Faces by Leah inside a 120-sq-ft suite. Growth was slow and steady. I assembled a hair and makeup team. By year three, I had relocated to a 2,000-sq-ft commercial building and built out additional suites for rent. I named her AAURA Salon & Spa Suites. And now here we are … 19 years in the industry.
