Part 2 of this loc restoration series is here.

We're still in the dematting phase because this isn't the type of service you rush through. Every section has to be separated carefully to avoid unnecessary breakage and preserve as much hair as possible.

One thing I hope people take away from this series is that maintenance appointments aren't just about looking neat. Regular separation helps prevent neighboring locs from growing together and keeps shed hair from creating large matted sections.

This process takes patience, skill, and a whole lot of time.

Part 3 is where things start getting really interesting because we're finally moving on to the cleansing process.

Until then, I need to know...

How long do y'all think this appointment took? Drop your guess below. The closest answer gets bragging rights. 😂

A lot of people think locs just "lock up" and take care of themselves, but that's far from the truth.

What you're seeing here is the result of years of locs not being separated, maintained, or properly cleansed.

The good news? Severe matting doesn't always mean it's time to cut everything off.

This client trusted the process, and we're just getting started. In this video we're tackling the dematting process and preserving as much healthy hair as possible before moving on to the next steps.

This restoration is going to be a journey, so make sure you're following along for Part 2.

Now tell me... be honest. When you first saw this, did you think these locs were beyond saving? 👀

Don't just stare at your screen looking concerned—leave a comment. 😂

How many words did you understand? 🥰

If I didn't get her help early she would not be as far as she is. She was not hitting milestones and I knew my baby was different.

How did you know your baby had autism?

Starting locs on short is easy. It’s the maintenance that is important.

For softer textures I recommend about 3-4 weeks between retwists to ensure a clean scalp and retouch the foundation.

There will be stragglers that will seem impossible to catch up but eventually my clients have a full head of flourishing locs.

If you’re ready I’m ready! Book the appointment! ❤️❤️

I miss my locs and in some years I may have them again. Idk.

But I don’t like how I looked with them and being 220+ pounds/overweight at the time.

I wouldn’t stay on top of my maintenances because I was always doing my client’s hair. Roots just always bushy.

So majority of the time I was walking around looking crazy by the head. My locs were color damaged so it always dry. They were different sizes because I started them myself. My parts were not straight….. And the list goes on and on.

But when I decided I didn’t want them anymore I let a lot of people down. I didn’t realize I had to keep them forever. 😂😂😂

I don’t know about yall but I feel more like THAT girl without my locs and rocking my sleek pony’s and braids.

“You don’t know what to do with your hair” I do but I don’t have to have my hair done 24/7. All I do is work mostly.

I’m the loctitian that supports unlocking because I’ve never been able to fit into boxes. If you hate being boxed in you might be my client. 🫶🏾🫶🏾🥰🥰

Memphis trip was so fun!!!

I turned 30 May 10th and I feel it 😩😩

My knees and back definitely giving 30. I can’t remember stuff how I used to. 😂😂 And how I end up being 30 with braces? 🤔

I’m holding onto my youth but I can say my whole mindset is different.
I’m glad I was able to enjoy myself this month. Thank God for another year. ❤️
