1. Her new growth. As we know, hair grows from the scalp, and this was about 8-12 weeks of new growth.
2. Before her new growth came in, she box colored her hair, which resulted in this brown color.
3. I had actually lightened her hair previously, before she applied the box color herself.

This required a color correction service, leaving me with three different colors to start with. Her end goal is platinum blonde, but I told her, “Not a chance, especially now that box color has been applied.”

Her ends can definitely be lightened more with another lightening session; however, where the box color was applied, it lifted bright orange, leaving an orange band around her hair. As a result, I recommended doing an all-over color with heavy highlights to achieve a golden blonde until our next appointment.

Trust the process and don’t expect perfect blonde after using box dye. ✨😖

The first 2 inches are virgin hair (new growth), which lifts easily and evenly.
The rest had old color, which can cause patchy or brassy results.
Lightener doesn’t work the same on colored vs. natural hair—and this is why color corrections take time, patience, and a customized approach!

Her goal was to go back blonde, and we got her there with a soft, dimensional finish 💛
