It’s really amazing how quickly time passes. Next May would have been 10 years that are little shop was open. 10 years! You might ask why I’m using past tense. That’s because as of January 1, 2022 our doors will be closing. This is not a sad thing, it’s a new beginning.
When we opened Mona LouElle in May of 2012, we had no idea what was in store. All we knew was that it was the right thing. We took a huge risk by venturing out on our own and I’d say it was worth it. The late nights, the struggles, the stress, the paperwork😵‍💫…was always countered by the laughs, the visits, the support, the connections made, and the love.
We each brought our own uniqueness to the shop and I can say that my partners were both gifts to me. I could not have succeeded in business without them and what they taught me. Rachel reminded us to laugh😂…and to create. Alicia reminded us to be patient and reassured us that things would always work themselves out❤️. I want to believe what I brought to the table was an open heart with a dash of determination. I know for a fact that we made Ramona, Louise, and Eleanor very proud!

“Thank you” does not even begin to cover the gratitude that pours from my heart when I think of the loving devoted clients we have had over the years. Without you all, my life would not be the same. Please know that I appreciate you all so so much! I believe I may speak for my former partners by saying WE are eternally grateful for the opportunity to be in your lives and the memories that were made.
Thank you…thank you ❤️

I believe it was my old boss who said “the biggest compliment someone can give you as a hairdresser is a referral”. And I totally agree! I’m always so appreciative and humbled when someone comes to see me at the mere suggestion of someone that they trust. When we opened the shop nine years ago, we did not need to advertise, give discounts, or solicit business. We built a business on our relationships with our clients and referrals. I can’t put into words how grateful I am and how I try to remind myself several times throughout my work week just how lucky I am! Due life circumstances, on top of the events of last year, I am no longer taking new clients at this time. Maybe I will again one day. Perhaps even on special occasions or hair emergencies for friends and families of existing clients. Thank you everyone so much who has sent me business over the years! You have literally made my life what it is and I am beyond grateful! I have decided though, it is unfair to my existing clients and to my journey for a happier, more fulfilling and stable future to keep myself busier than I wish to be and am capable of. Thank y’all so much for understanding! Again, please don’t hesitate to ask if you have something come up or a loved one in need. I will always do what I can. I also have to say that if you know someone in need of a good hairdresser and I am not available, luckily I know many of them!! I know talented hairdressers across the Baton Rouge area ranging in location, pricing, and talents. I would trust any one of them with my hair and would be happy to refer her out!
Thank you.
I love y’all so much! ❤️😘☺️

Good morning everyone! I am making progress with getting everyone booked believe it or not! If I have told you you were on the list and have not reached out to you this week, feel free to text me again. I have not forgotten you, I promise! I have been asking people to send me their availability, as in a good day or time of day that you could come for an appointment. That way I can find a time slot and reach out to people who need certain times. That seems to be more efficient when trying to book people, wait for replies, etc. Also, I will text the guidelines before everyone’s appointment. I know wearing a mask is uncomfortable. I hate it in fact! 😂
But we have to. I have to stay consistent across the board so that I can honestly tell my clients who are scared to come in that I am literally doing everything I can to keep them safe. My immune compromised clients are counting on me to stick with my guidelines. Even if a mask does very little good, it is something. It is me showing those people that I am not willing to risk putting them in jeopardy. For those with certain medical conditions, anxiety, asthma and so on, having a scarf or bandanna to simply hold in front of your face when I am near you is sufficient. I will except that over a mask in this case. I ask though that you please keep it in front of your face until you are at least 6 feet away from myself and others. Thank you so much again for understanding!!!

Here is an update on guideline s starting next week! Please read thoroughly before your appointment and of course reach out with any questions or concerns! 😊❤️

Things you to know before your appointment:
(These guidelines are subject to change!)
-First, if you have had fever or any symptoms consistent with COVID 19 in the pas two weeks, or have been around anyone who has, I ask that you please reschedule your appointment!
-Please take your temperature before coming!! When you arrive, you can verify that you don’t have a fever or temp higher than 99.0.
-Please do not enter the salon until I call, text, or wave you in.
-If you have your own hand sanitizer, please bring it. However, this is not required.
-Absolutely no children or visitors are to accompany you to your appointment! Period.
-Everyone must wear a mask to their appointment. No Exceptions! I will try to have some extra on hand, but that is not a guarantee.
-Upon entering, and with limited to no contact, you will be screened and asked questions pertaining to COVID 19 symptoms. Once that is completed, the client and I will wash our hands thoroughly!
-I will ask everyone to sign a release form verifying that you are asymptomatic and are getting services done at your own risk.
-Individuals occupying the salon will be strictly limited. If you happen to be in the salon with another patron, I ask you to please maintain social distancing by staying six feet away from others.
-When the service is completed, clients will be asked to leave so that the next appointment can enter.
-I will be building in time between appointments to clean and sanitize. Please be patient with me as I may occasionally run behind a few minutes. Because of this additional time constraint, if you are going to be more than 10 or 15 minutes late to your appointment, I may ask you to reschedule!
-Lastly, barring emergency reasons, guests who no-show or cancel their appointment at the last minute are subject to pay a fee upon their next visit. A second incident may prevent further booking all together.

Thank you for taking this seriously. I have clients who fall in the high-risk category and they are counting on us to help maintain a sanitary, safe environment for them to visit.

These guidelines are set forth by the Louisiana state board of cosmetology and are imperative for everyone’s safety and the integrity of my business.

I appreciate you all so much! Stay well and hopefully I’ll see you soon! ❤️

I won’t say it totally surprises me, but still overwhelms me with gratitude the amount of patience, love, and kindness coming from you all. Thank you so much!! Again, reach out at any time! Send another text if you need to. Like I said before, I am trying to rebook people in the order they were booked before if possible. People that needed this done before quarantine are long overdue at this point😂
I will try to make another post once I have texted everyone on my list. If I haven’t reached out to you by then, let me know! I have about 60 more texts to send and list keeps growing, lol
Also, I will for sure have a cancellation/waiting list.
Thanks again for being awesome!😭❤️

I promise to maintain a clean, safe environment to the best of my abilities! The safety of everyone who enters my second home is a top priority for me! If there are concerns regarding any of these rules, please reach out so I can assure you that your visit will not be as “clinical” as it sounds, lol. These guidelines are set forth by the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology and are required for our safety and the integrity of my business.
This may be a “new normal”, but this too shall pass. We have to be patient and look after each other, especially our most venerable. I love my clients like family and I am looking forward to seeing your faces! As most of you know, our dear Alicia is leaving. While part of me is heartbroken to not have the privilege to stand next to my
“Homie” everyday, I know this decision is what is best for her family and they have all of my love and support! Those of you who need me, please reach out. And maybe reach out again 😂. I promise I am here for you and I will do my best!! ❤️
I plan on opening the shop next week! In the meantime, I will be busy trying to rebook those of you who have missed your appointments throughout quarantine while also booking other clients, and any of Alicia‘s who need to come see me. Keep in mind, that it may be a few weeks before some of you are able to be seen, but again, I promise to do my best! We all need a sense of normalcy again and I look forward to seeing you all! Thank you for your love and support. It means the absolute world to me!

Hello beautiful people! Alicia here. I hope you are all staying healthy and safe. I've reached out to (I hope) all of my clients but also wanted to let Shannon's clients know as well. My family is taking a huge leap of faith and moving to Kansas. Morgan received a dream job offer from Honeywell. We thought and prayed long and hard before making a decision but we both feel this is what's best for our family long term. It's been very difficult to tell all of my wonderful and loyal and loving clients goodbye, especially via text, call and social media. This pandemic has made our situation a little more strange but we're rolling with it! Please know that you all will be in my thoughts ALL THE TIME! I don't know what I'm going to do without Shannon and my Mona LouElle family. Every one of you have blessed my life greatly and I'm a better person for knowing you! It's been 15 years since I started doing hair and Shannon has been by my side since day one! Please take care of her and love her! Stay in touch and please send positive thoughts and prayers our way as we navigate this HUGE change, Sending love to all of you!

Just a few guidelines I received from the state board of cosmetology as far as what reopening will look like! First and foremost, health is of the utmost importance. It may seem a bit extreme or overboard, but this is what is required of me to run my business in the safest way possible. As soon as I can, I will put together a list of things to know when booking your next appointment! Things won’t be completely “normal”, but that’s ok. As long as we all come out of this in one healthy piece, that’s all that matters! Masks and all, I can’t wait to see your faces! In person!!😭😊❤️❤️❤️
