This is my first time making mead!
I’m entranced as mead is the drink of the gods and bees are mythical creatures between the worlds. I think drinking my own handcrafted mead might give me a boost to the other realms. It’s deemed to have magical properties related to love, creativity and inspiration. I’ll let you know!
This is Cleavers. I’m making a cold infusion.
Traditionally, cleavers has been used for:
Urinary tract infections and bladder irritation (demulcent quality — meaning she’s slimy, soothing, and coating — calms inflamed mucous membranes in the urinary tract)
Kidney stone prevention ( reduces calcium oxalate accumulation by keeping fluid moving)
Fluid retention and puffiness (especially the kind driven by lymph or kidney stagnation, not cardiac issues)
Swollen lymph nodes in the pelvis — has a particular affinity here that herbalists have noted for centuries
So when someone says ‘cleavers supports detox,’ what they’re actually describing is a coordinated action across the lymphatic system, immune function, and kidney filtration — all happening at the same time. That’s not just a trendy spring tonic. That’s a genuinely intelligent herb.
I was inspired by She is of the Woods who gave an alternate and more medicinal suggestion to the cleavers smoothie craze. The cold infusion is lovely.
This is the fairy flower time in the garden.
“The earth laughs in flowers.”

Delicious and medicinal first real forage of the season. I’ll be using the dandelion leaves in my salads and for the bunnies. It is such important food, necessary bitters, to transition into the warmer seasons. I’ll dry the mugwort for my dream pillows and for tea; great for enhancing dreaming, a digestive butter and for women’s wombs.
The dead nettles for tea as well, medicinal but I’m still getting to know this one. Not the same as Stinging Nettles which I have a deep relationship with.
